Coming up we have a light heavyweight Tycoon World Grappling Championship rules bout between Steven Shatiko and Jimmie Connor. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!
This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the light heavyweight division. Introducing today's competitors. In the red corner, competing out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 0 losses; Steven Shatiko! And in the blue corner, fighting out of London, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 0 losses; Jimmie Connor! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, William Gold and Richard Clark.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious? Shatiko shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Connor but Connor pushes him off and we're back to square one. Connor has a takedown stuffed. Connor shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Shatiko pinned against the cage. Shatiko gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Shatiko. Connor has managed to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Connor pulls guard successfully.

That's one minute gone in the round. Connor working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Shatiko doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Shatiko manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Shatiko really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Connor is pulling down on Shatiko's head to control his posture. Shatiko is pushing down on Connor's leg trying to pass to half guard. Connor is fighting to maintain full guard but Shatiko has managed to sneak the leg through. Shatiko trying to control the action but Connor is working from the bottom. Connor looking for submissions off his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Shatiko seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Connor does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Connor is trying is best to control the position here. Connor is continuing to stall. Connor manages to get to full guard.
Connor pulls Shatiko in close to prevent any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Shatiko not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Shatiko pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Connor is keeping the position for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Shatiko pushes down on Connor's leg and manages to get into half guard. Shatiko trying to control from half guard but Connor is working away. Connor is looking for a sweep. Shatiko is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Connor desperately trying to maintain half guard. Connor is trying to control but can't.

That's six minutes gone in the round. Connor tries to reverse the position but Shatiko maintains control. Shatiko wants to take Connor's back but he can't do it this time. Shatiko controlling the position easily from mount. Connor is looking to improve his position but Shatiko isn't that keen on the idea.
That's seven minutes gone in the round. Shatiko trying to control but he's not successful this time. Connor is controlling an arm, preventing Shatiko from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Shatiko prevents Connor from getting the reversal. Shatiko is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Connor has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Connor sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
That's eight minutes gone in the round. Connor actively working from the bottom here. Shatiko is looking to take a break and control but Connor is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Shatiko prevents Connor from improving his position. Shatiko trying to control the action but Connor is working from the bottom. Connor is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Connor is refusing to be controlled, as Shatiko sits in half guard. Shatiko is looking to stall here but Connor recovers full guard. Shatiko looking to sit in guard and control but Connor gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Shatiko is breathing heavily. Connor pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Shatiko is keeping the position for now. Shatiko on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Shatiko tries to get out of the position.

That's eleven minutes gone in the round. Shatiko wants to control but Connor postures up. Connor has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Shatiko! Connor swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Shatiko is now in Connor's guard. A big mistake from Connor there, giving up the dominant position! Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Shatiko (5) vs (7) Connor Shatiko trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's twelve minutes gone in the round. Connor is pulling down on Shatiko's head. It's preventing any offense from Shatiko, at least for the moment. Connor not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Shatiko will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Shatiko got a little sloppy there for a moment and Connor has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Shatiko has managed to get both his arms back between Connor's legs - danger averted. Connor is trying to control the position but Shatiko postures up. Connor is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's thirteen minutes gone in the round. Shatiko trying to control but Connor is working from the bottom. Connor has his foot on Shatiko's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Shatiko works his way back into a safe position though. Connor is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Shatiko trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
That's fourteen minutes gone in the round. Connor keeping moving, preventing Shatiko from controlling successfully. Connor is trying to keep Shatiko in close.
Shatiko avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Shatiko sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Connor's guard.
And that's the end of the fight! Connor wins on points by 7 to 5. After winning the bout, Jimmie Connor thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility. |
