PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jonathan Moxon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aumakua Mano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mano has chosen I'm Angry by Surf Nazis Must Die as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Jonathan Moxon has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Hilo, Jonathan Moxon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Aumakua Mano!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mano tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Moxon was well out of range. Poor timing from Mano.
Moxon tries to clinch but Mano moves out of range.
Mano ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Moxon moves away.
Moxon tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Mano shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Moxon pinned against the cage. Moxon gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Moxon throws a right hand that Mano ducks under and follows up with a left that Mano also avoids with ease.
Mano will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Nice defenses there by Moxon.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mano misses with a wild body shot.
Moxon keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Mano tries to clinch but Moxon moves out of range.

Moxon feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Mano slips a nice elbow through Moxon's hands, connecting with Moxon's forehead.

Mano is looking to take a break and control but Moxon is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Aumakua Mano dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The referee warns Moxon that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Mano takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Moxon is not content to let Mano control the position.
Mano is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Aumakua Mano showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Mano throws a left and a right that both miss

and Moxon counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mano's guard now.
Mano wants to sweep but no luck.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mano can do anything to dispel that myth.

Moxon is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mano is just riding it out for now. Moxon eventually gives up the hold.

Mano is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Moxon's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Moxon's back!

You can see the frustration on Moxon's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Mano has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Moxon has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Will Mano go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Mano cracks Moxon with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Moxon from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

I would not like to be Moxon right now.
Moxon turns into Mano and is now in his guard.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Mano manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Moxon manages to get himself to full guard.
Mano keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Moxon's head.

Mano slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Mano decides to stand back up. Mano steps back and let's Moxon get back to his feet.
Moxon tries to clinch there but Mano circles away.
Mano just misses with a punch to the body.

and Mano counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Moxon's guard now.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Moxon had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Mano is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Moxon Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Mano's back instead.

Moxon is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Mano has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Aumakua Mano is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Mano breaks Moxon's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Aumakua Mano comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Mano winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
