Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jim Connected (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jez Beltran (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jez Beltran is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Connected ! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jez Beltran! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, John Mangel and Darius Henderson.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Connected throws a hook but Beltran blocks it. Beltran shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Connected is trying to defend but Beltran finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Connected has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Beltran is working away from the top position though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Beltran is figuring out what he wants to do next. Connected looks like he's trying to stand up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beltran tries to pass to full mount but Connected defends it. Beltran is thwarting Connected 's attempts to control the position. The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet. Connected tries to roll over but Beltran keeps him under control.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Beltran throws a half hearted mid kick. Connected shoots in and drives through. Beltran sprawls well. Connected throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Connected throws a big shot that misses. Connected is trying hard to land a takedown here. Beltran sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. No luck for Connected with that takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Connected . That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nice sprawl there from Beltran as Connected shoots in. Beltran motions for Connected to come forward. Beltran throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Beltran shoots in and bounces Connected off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard. Connected is breathing heavily. Beltran wants to control from the top but Connected keeps moving. Beltran works a leg free and moves into half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Beltran controlling the pace. Connected looks like he's trying to stand up.

Jez Beltran dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.
Beltran with a body punch. A glancing blow. Connected fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Connected closes the distance and clinches up with Beltran, looking for a takedown. Connected pushes Beltran against the ropes but Beltran circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Beltran is defended easily by Connected . Connected has his takedown stuffed and Beltran counters by clinching up. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Connected . That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Connected is looking to take this one to the mat. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Beltran has Connected pressed up against the ropes. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Beltran pulls back from the ropes and twists to the side, sending Connected tumbling to the mat - Beltran dives into Connected 's guard. Beltran would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beltran connects with a couple of short punches. Beltran slips nicely into half guard. Connected has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Beltran is working away from the top position though. Beltran seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Beltran's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Beltran tries to stand and escape but Connected is controlling the position. Connected is defending against the submission attempts here by Beltran.
Beltran trying to pass the guard but Connected defending well. Connected is trying to stand up here but Beltran is controlling him well. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Beltran controlling the pace. The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring. Beltran drops an elbow to the side of Connected 's head. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jez Beltran showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's time! Connected 's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Connected shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Connected shoots in looking for a takedown but Beltran manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Connected 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Beltran goes for a double leg but Connected avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the ropes as Connected continues to drive forward. Beltran tries a head kick but it misses.
Connected doesn't manage to clinch there - Beltran circles away.
Beltran dives in for a single leg takedown but Connected sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the ropes. Connected has managed to clinch.
Connected escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Beltran stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Beltran wants it to stay on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Connected . That's going to take a lot out of him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A combination from Beltran does no damage. Connected is looking to counter the offense by Beltran and move into the clinch. Beltran fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Connected swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Beltran shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Connected manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Both fighters are breathing heavily. Connected is trying to control but Beltran passes into side control!
Beltran tries to advance to mount but Connected denies him. Beltran wants to lay and pray for a moment but Connected keeps working.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Beltran tries to get to his feet but Connected is in the middle of advancing position himself and ends up with Beltran in his guard. Connected controls Beltran momentarily but Beltran frees himself. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Beltran stays in close to Connected 's body and controls the position. Connected looking to sweep here. No luck so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jez Beltran really dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Beltran closes the distance and pushes Connected back into the ropes. Connected tries for a takedown but Beltran manages to get underhooks.
Beltran is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Connected is keeping busy. Beltran drops down looking for an ankle pick but Connected pulls his leg out and moves away.
Beltran has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Beltran closes the distance and clinches. Connected breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Beltran shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Beltran showed some decent athleticism there. Beltran is taking a breather. Connected says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Connected is refusing to be controlled, as Beltran sits in half guard. Connected is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Connected on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Connected manages to get to full guard.

Beltran closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the ropes. Beltran breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Connected clinches up against the ropes. Beltran has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Connected is trying to keep an underhook but Beltran manages to get the takedown into half guard. The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves. Connected is not content to let Beltran control the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Connected trying to control but Beltran postures up.
Beltran wants to take a breather but Connected is having none of it. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Beltran lands a nice short elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Beltran trying to control the action but Connected is working from the bottom. Connected moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Jez Beltran has got the better of the ground game so far. Connected trying to strike off his back.
Beltran is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Connected throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Connected plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Connected has closed the distance and engaged Beltran in a clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Beltran drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Connected fails to pull guard.
Connected wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Beltran has him pressed against the ropes. Connected breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Beltran drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Beltran is standing up over Connected . Connected looks to escape but Beltran dives into side control.
Connected is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Jim Connected has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Jez Beltran is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Connected wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Jez Beltran. Well Beltran has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
