Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Patrice Pothier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reginald Velvet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pothier's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Numb. Reginald Velvet is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Patrice Pothier! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Reginald Velvet! The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Jeff Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Velvet misses with a two punch combination.
Pothier tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Velvet defends well and Pothier ends up having to push Velvet into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Pothier throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Velvet's waist but Velvet gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pothier off to one side. Velvet throws a series of punches but Pothier avoids them all with ease. A punch combination from Velvet misses. A combination from Velvet does no damage. Velvet stuffs the takedown. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Patrice Pothier. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pothier closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pothier lands in his opponent's guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pothier stands up over Velvet, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Velvet wants to get back to his feet but Pothier passes into half guard.

Velvet is looking for a sweep. Pothier is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Velvet is trying to stand up here but Pothier is controlling him well. Velvet looks winded! Pothier looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Velvet with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nice strikes from Pothier there. That's one minute gone in the round. Pothier working over Velvet with some ground and pound. Velvet looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Velvet really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Pothier. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Pothier is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Velvet defends it well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pothier is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Velvet is just riding it out for now. Pothier eventually gives up the hold. Pothier seems to be looking for submissions.
Velvet tries to roll over but Pothier keeps him under control. Pothier is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Velvet manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Pothier keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Pothier pulls guard successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pothier is adopting a defensive guard. Pothier tries to strike from the bottom.
Pothier kicks Velvet off and gets to his feet. Pothier shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Velvet lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
It looks like Patrice Pothier has been cut. Velvet has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! A punch combination from Velvet misses. No joy there for Velvet, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Pothier works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Pothier drops back looking for a leg! Velvet is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Velvet manages to kick Pothier off! Pothier jumps back into Velvet's guard. Velvet is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Velvet looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pothier works a leg free and moves into half guard. Pothier lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Velvet tries to roll over but Pothier keeps him under control. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Pothier lands a nice short elbow. Pothier lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Velvet flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Pothier takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Pothier lands strikes from half guard. Pothier landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Pothier scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Velvet tries to kick Pothier off in order to stand up. Pothier Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Pothier cracks Velvet with a big right hand but Velvet just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Velvet can do anything to dispel that myth. Pothier landing a few strikes. Pothier landing a few strikes. Pothier scoring with punches and elbows. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Velvet defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Pothier scoring with strikes but Velvet is staying in there. Pothier fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Patrice Pothier dominated that round. The cut man is working on Patrice Pothier's cut. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Velvet seems to have recovered his senses. Pothier breaks from Velvet's wrist control and lands an elbow. Pothier working for a submission but Velvet is keeping him at bay. Pothier in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Pothier is landing with some decent strikes but Velvet is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Pothier working away from the top, dropping strikes. That's two minutes gone in the round. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Pothier is landing with some decent strikes but Velvet is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Velvet is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Pothier lands a big elbow. Pothier raining down shots from the mount! Patrice Pothier overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pothier is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Velvet is surviving well by controlling Pothier's body position as best he can. Velvet is in all sorts of trouble here.
Pothier is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! Velvet is forced to tap! Great finish!
