The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Eddie Farnsworth and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gay checks a leg kick nicely.
Gay closes this distance looking for a takedown but Heathen circles away.
Heathen misses with a combination
so Gay counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Heathen has his hands on Gay's head, controlling the position.

Heathen manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Heathen has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Gay off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Gay's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Gay escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Gay decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Heathen tries to get to full guard but Gay has control of the leg.
Gay is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Heathen defends it well.
Heathen kicks Gay off and gets back to his feet.
Heathen feints and then cracks Gay's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Gay down.
Heathen throws a series of punches but Gay avoids them all with ease.
Gay uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Heathen.

Heathen fires a straight punch through the middle that cracks Gay square on the jaw! Damn, Gay is out cold on his feet and topples face first to the canvas! Wow, I haven't seen a knockout that brutal in a long time!
