Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kugimiya Masato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Carpe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kugimiya Masato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Justin Carpe!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Hirohito Nitta and Kenichi Hosakawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carpe shoots in and drives through. Masato sprawls well.
Masato slaps away a takedown attempt from Carpe, before circling back to the center of the mat.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Masato.
Carpe throws a right and a left that both miss.
Masato appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Carpe tries to score a power double leg takedown but Masato sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Carpe somewhat.
Kugimiya Masato has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Justin Carpe.
Horrible takedown attempt by Carpe or perhaps it was just good defense by Masato, which made it look bad.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Masato tries a head kick but it misses.
Carpe misses with a takedown attempt

so Masato counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Carpe is looking to stand up but Masato isn't so interested in that idea.
Masato wants to control from the top but Carpe keeps moving.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Masato stays in close to Carpe's body and controls the position.
Carpe is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Masato is controlling him.
Masato pushing down on Carpe's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Masato looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.

Masato is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Masato working Carpe over with strikes.
Masato wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carpe keeps working.
Still in half guard, Masato seems content to control.
Masato tries to pass the half guard into mount. Carpe knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Carpe looking for submissions off his back.
Masato works his way into side control.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Masato trying to control the position but Carpe is working away.
Carpe is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Masato moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Masato connects with an inside leg kick.
Carpe darts in looking for a takedown but Masato gets double underhooks and turns Carpe into the cage.
Masato changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Masato shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Carpe napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Masato passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Carpe!

Masato working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Masato can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carpe is looking to escape.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kugimiya Masato dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


Masato tries to clinch up.
Carpe is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.

Masato shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Masato was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Carpe is looking for a sweep.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Masato tries to advance to mount but Carpe denies him.
Masato content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Masato tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
We've been informed that Carpe has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Masato wants to lay and pray for a moment but Carpe keeps working.
Carpe sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Masato passes the guard and advances to mount!
Carpe really wants to buck Masato off and get back to his feet.
Masato controlling his opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Masato can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Carpe is looking to escape.
We've been hearing good reports from Masato's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Kugimiya Masato overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Masato sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Masato wants to control the pace but Carpe is squirming around nicely.

Masato controlling from mount.
Masato trying to control but Carpe is having none of it.
Masato controlling the pace for now.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Masato looking to control but Carpe is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Carpe is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Masato swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Carpe is now in Masato's guard. A big mistake from Masato there, giving up the dominant position!
Masato tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Carpe sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Carpe stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Masato has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Carpe manages to get his head free but now Masato has transitioned to an armbar! Carpe grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Masato! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Kugimiya Masato!
