Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Steve Riformato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Buzz Saw (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Riformato's entrance music is go to sleep. A fine choice. Buzz Saw has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Steve Riformato's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Steve Riformato!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Buzz Saw!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Colin Fotheringham and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Saw will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Saw misses with a takedown attempt - Riformato sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Riformato shoots and misses

and Saw counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Riformato!
Riformato working to try and regain half guard.
Saw looking to control and managing it successfully.
Riformato is desperately trying to improve his position but Saw has a good base and remains in mount.
Riformato tries to lock up and control but Saw gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Riformato is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Saw is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Riformato's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Saw takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Riformato sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Riformato is looking for a sweep. Saw is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Riformato is trying to stand.
Saw not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Riformato works his way to full guard. Good work.

Saw postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Riformato is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Saw, into his guard.

Riformato stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Saw swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Riformato remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Riformato works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Riformato will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Saw is trying to improve his position.
Riformato tries to advance to mount but can't.
Riformato wants to control but Saw is keeping him busy.
Saw trying to remain calm as Riformato controls from the top position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Riformato cracks Saw with a big elbow.

Riformato is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Saw knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Riformato has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Riformato fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Riformato is going olschool here, as he tries to force Saw to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Saw shrugs it off.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Steve Riformato will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Saw misses with a kick to the body.
Saw tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Riformato gets the takedown into side control.

Riformato tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
You can see the frustration on Saw's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Saw is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Riformato is controlling him well.

Riformato remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Riformato has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Riformato tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Saw smiles and moves away.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Well, if Riformato is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Riformato wants to control but Saw is keeping him busy.

Saw looking for submissions off his back.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Saw doesn't manage to clinch there - Riformato circles away.
Riformato shoots in but no luck this time.

Riformato shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Saw tries to kick Riformato off but Riformato keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Saw is trying to control but can't.
Riformato not doing much here.
Riformato seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Saw for as long as he can get away with.
Saw wants to get back to full guard.

Riformato is looking for a kimura but Saw is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Riformato to get the leverage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Saw has taken the fight to the clinch.

Saw ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Saw no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Riformato won't allow Saw to sweep him here.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Riformato tries to free his leg and advance position but Saw is retaining full guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Riformato loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Riformato shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Saw as he jumps to the side.

Saw wants to control the position but Riformato says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Riformato lands a big elbow.
Riformato really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Saw is squirming around, avoiding Riformato's attempts to control the action.
Saw is looking to get to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Steve Riformato showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Riformato, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
