Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
47 - 24 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Jason Canning! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
36 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Andy Chick! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Canning feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Chicks jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Canning misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Chick.
A little jabbing left from Chick on the counter but it doesn't find it's target. A big right from Canning misses. Chick on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Canning throws a left and a right that both miss
and Chick counters with an outside leg kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from Chick. Canning does a little dance to reset his feet. Canning lifts his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick. Canning swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Chick uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Canning. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A slow jab from Chick misses its intended target. Canning throws a front kick that sends Chick stumbling back into the cage. Canning showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Chick.
That's one minute gone in the round. Chick swings for the body but Canning moves out of range.
Chick thows a left - swing and a miss! Canning uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Chick. Canning was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit. Canning cracks the inside of Chick's front leg. Chick misses with a jab to the body
and Chick takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Canning fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Chick manages to avoid it. Chick with a nice cross. Canning lands a slapping body shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Chick lands with a cross. Chick lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Canning scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
It looks like Andy Chick has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Canning is looking to land body kicks. Chick misses with a jab to the body
and Canning counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Chick throws a solid leg kick but Canning takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Chick. Chick tests Canning's chin there with a solid looking shot. Chick has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Canning.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Canning lands with a good body shot. Canning throws a head kick that half lands.
Canning uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Chick.
Chick tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Canning is able to avoid easily. Canning half committed to a counter leg kick. Nice straight punches there by Chick. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Chick. Chick tries to keep at a distance but Canning has taken the fight into the clinch. Canning blocking some punches.
Chick tries to break the clinch but Canning is controlling the position. Canning tries to land a knee to the head but Chick blocks with his arms.
Nice body punch from Chick. Canning misses with a knee to the head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Chick lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Canning or not. Chick throws a head punch that misses. A short left from Chick. Chick avoids the elbow strike from Canning, against the cage.
Chick lands with a left to the head. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Chick breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Canning cracks the inside of Chick's front leg. Chick lands with an overhand left.
Canning is rocked! Chick cracks Canning with a left hook right on the temple and Canning goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! Chick lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Canning is OK!
