Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Beast Putin (ranked 710 p4p, 21 weight class) and Thorbjorn Heimendahl (ranked 519 p4p, 16 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Putin dives in and grabs Heimendahl's left leg, looking for a takedown. Heimendahl pushes down on Putin's head and hops out.
Heimendahl with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Putin to score with a decent uppercut.

Heimendahl throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Putin counters with a nice kick to the body.
Heimendahl delivers a nice body kick.
Heimendahl lets loose with a powerful body kick. Putin will feel that in the morning.
Putin throws a good cross that connects.
Putin keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Heimendahl is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

Heimendahl pushes off an throws an elbow but Putin leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Putin has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Heimendahl is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Putin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Heimendahl closes the distance and clinches.
Putin wants to take the fight to the mat but Heimendahl manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Beast Putin. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Putin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Heimendahl looks for the body kick but Putin saw that one coming.
Putin looks to land a combination but Heimendahl avoids it well.
Heimendahl lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Heimendahl stuffs the takedown attempt from Putin. Putin gets slowly back to his feet.

Putin throws the left hand but Heimendahl avoids the punch easily.

It looks like Beast Putin has been cut.

Putin is trying to drag Heimendahl to the mat but Heimendahl just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
