Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Patrick Myers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yi Ruogang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Patrick Myers! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Yi Ruogang! The judges for this bout are , Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Myers closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Ruogang to the mat! Ruogang manages to get full guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Myers stopping the sweep attempt from Ruogang. Myers postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Myers won't allow Ruogang to sweep him here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Myers with a flurry of punches that miss. Myers is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Ruogang is controlling Myers's posture. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Myers in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Myers trying to control but Ruogang is working from the bottom. Ruogang wants to sweep here but Myers controlling him for the moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Myers darts in and clinches Ruogang up against the cage. Myers lands a takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Myers loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Ruogang utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Ruogang preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Ruogang controlling the position. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Myers preventing the sweep.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Ruogang looking to score a takedown here. Myers is defending well but Ruogang drives through and ends up in Myers's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Myers bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Ruogang's guard. Ruogang pulls Myers in close to prevent any damage. Myers stopping the sweep attempt from Ruogang. Ruogang looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Ruogang looking to hit a scissor sweep but Myers is one step ahead there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Myers postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Ruogang really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Myers. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ruogang tries to land a sweep but no joy. Myers throwing strikes from guard but Ruogang blocks nicely. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ruogang looking to sweep here. No luck so far. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Patrick Myers dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Ruogang drives through with a takedown into Myers's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Myers is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Ruogang can do to turn this around? Ruogang controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Myers throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Ruogang must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Ruogang is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Myers working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Ruogang doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Ruogang manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Myers working for a triangle but Ruogang defends it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Myers wants to sweep but no luck. Myers is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ruogang is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Patrick Myers overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Myers missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Ruogang tries to get to full guard but Myers has control of the leg. Ruogang avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Myers.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Myers is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Myers really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Ruogang is trying to get back to full guard. Ruogang is concentrating on defense, preventing Myers from advancing position. Myers working over Ruogang with some ground and pound. Ruogang looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Myers will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Ruogang has a hand on Myers's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Myers takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Myers thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage. Ruogang is looking to improve his position but Myers isn't that keen on the idea. Myers cracks Ruogang with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Myers has control of Ruogang's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ruogang regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Ruogang is desperately trying to improve his position but Myers has a good base and remains in mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruogang avoids a series of strikes thrown by Myers.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ruogang really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Ruogang takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Patrick Myers dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! And we move into the final round!
Ruogang tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Myers defends well and Ruogang ends up having to push Myers into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. Ruogang dives in and grabs Myers's left leg, looking for a takedown. Myers pushes down on Ruogang's head and hops out. Myers is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Ruogang. Myers stuffs the takedown attempt from Ruogang. Ruogang gets slowly back to his feet. Patrick Myers has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Yi Ruogang. Ruogang fails with the takedown. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Myers fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ruogang to the ground. Myers is now in Ruogang's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Myers throwing strikes from guard but Ruogang blocks nicely. Ruogang is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Myers is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Ruogang utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Myers trying to control but Ruogang is working from the bottom. Myers throws a big elbow that misses. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ruogang can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Myers working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Ruogang bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Myers has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Ruogang scoring with punches from side control. Ruogang staying calm. You can see the frustration on Myers's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ruogang in side control, just content to control the action for now. Ruogang misses with the ground and pound. Ruogang scores with punches from side control. Myers tries to bench press Ruogang off him but Ruogang keeps the position. Ruogang is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Myers's shoulder. That is not cool. Myers manages to get back to half guard. Myers makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Myers. Ruogang is stalling in the full guard. Myers avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Myers controls Ruogang momentarily but Ruogang frees himself.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ruogang is in close to Myers's body, working some short punches and elbows. Ruogang is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Ruogang connects with a couple of short punches. Myers can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Ruogang controls the pace. Myers not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Yi Ruogang has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Ruogang slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Ruogang pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Myers is keeping the position for now. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Myers trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage. Ruogang content to stall in guard here. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Patrick Myers is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Myers looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Yi Ruogang. Well Myers has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
