Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Badou Baha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sumo Jo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Badou Baha has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Badou Baha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sumo Jo!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Sosuke Kotani and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baha misses with a combination

and Jo counters with a shoot takedown. Baha fights it but they end up in guard.
My spies in Hard Knocks Training inform me that Jo has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Jo is in close to Baha's body, working some short punches and elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jo doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Jo had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Baha defends it easily.

Jo escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Baha gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jo is on top in guard.

Jo is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Baha knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jo on the ground.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Baha lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Jo backs up against the cage.


It looks like Sumo Jo has been cut.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Baha fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Baha throws a right hand that Jo ducks under and follows up with a left that Jo also avoids with ease.
Baha lands a two punch combo.
Jo fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jo misses with a takedown attempt - Baha sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
A decent looking cross lands there for Baha.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Baha throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nice sprawl there from Baha as Jo shoots in.
Badou Baha has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sumo Jo.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jo throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Baha tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Jo is in Baha's guard.
Jo with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Jo wants to control from the top but Baha keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Badou Baha dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Sumo Jo's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!


Baha swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jo shoots in looking for a takedown. Baha tries to sprawl out of it but Jo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Baha manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Baha slaps away a takedown attempt from Jo, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Badou Baha is winning the standup battle so far.
Baha throws a series of punches but Jo moves out of range.
Jo doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Baha counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Badou Baha has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sumo Jo.
Baha misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Badou Baha is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jo fails with the takedown.
Baha is looking for a counter combo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jo shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Oooooh!!! Baha has knocked Jo down with a huge combo! Baha steps away and waves a wobbly Jo back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Jo is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
No joy there for Baha, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Jo is still on wobbly legs! Can Baha finish him?
Baha cracks Jo's jaw with two stiff jabs then ducks low and throws a soul-severing right uppercut to the mouth!! Jo slumps to the ground with blood on his lips. The referee steps in before Baha can do further damage! This one is done, son!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Badou Baha!
Badou Baha decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
