PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Alfonso Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcel Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Miller has chosen Sir Psycho Sexy - Red Hot Chili Peppers as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Marcel Miller will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Torres has taken the fight to the clinch.
Torres is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Torres is fighting off a takedown attempt but Miller is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Torres to the mat. Torres regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Torres seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Torres is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Miller's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Miller duly obliges.

and Torres counters by moving into the clinch.

Miller has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Torres uses from the top position.

Torres will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Torres has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Miller wants to stand and escape but Torres is having none of it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Torres seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
Miller throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Miller throws a right and a left that Torres avoids nicely.

Torres uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Miller.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Torres lets loose with a powerful body kick. Miller will feel that in the morning.
Torres walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
No joy there for Miller, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Miller is trying to get back to his feet but Torres has full control of the position and if anything, Miller has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Torres is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Torres seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Miller for as long as he can get away with.

Miller is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
What can Miller do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
Alfonso Torres overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Torres really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Torres is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Miller has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Miller scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Torres doesn't seem bothered though.

Miller shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Torres manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Torres is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Torres not doing much here.
Torres's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Torres.
Miller wants to get back to full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Torres is controlling the pace.
Torres stops Miller from getting back to his feet.

Marcel Miller comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Miller has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
