Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Salvatore Cole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ty Cruz!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Taro Takaoka and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cole gets caught napping as Cruz dives in and scores a takedown. Cole manages to retain guard.
Cruz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Cruz wanted to stand there but Cole had control of the position.
Cruz sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Cruz trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cruz stays in close to Cole's body and controls the position.
Cole has Cruz pulled in close to control his posture.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Cole is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Cole fails with a takedown attempt.
Cruz throws out a counter right but Cole avoids it with no problem.
Cruz gets the takedown into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Cruz taking a breather here.
Cruz tries for a kimura but Cole is defending well.
Cruz has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Cole really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Cruz is landing with some decent strikes but Cole is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Cruz takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cruz looking to finish Cole with some ground and pound. This is bad for Cole!
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cruz cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Cole is rocked!
Cruz postures up and connects with a big shot that has rocked Cole badly. He's trying desperately to grab hold of Cruz around the waist but Cruz pushes him off and unloads with more strikes, forcing the referee to jump in and save him! Cruz is the winner by TKO! Cruz jumps onto the cage and shouts into the camera. "We did it momma!"
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Ty Cruz!
