Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Simon Neil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Finch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simon Neil has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Simon Neil! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jake Finch! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Russell Pearce and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Neil looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Finch! Finch can't escape the position.
Finch tries to lock up and control but Neil gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Neil trying to control but he's not successful this time. Neil looking for a guillotine from mount but Finch is having none of it. Finch regains half guard. Finch trying to hold on to Neil's head to control him but Neil postures up.
Neil missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Finch is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Neil is trying to control the action in half guard but Finch is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Neil wants to stand up but Finch is controlling the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Neil shoots in for a double leg but Finch sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Neil shoots in looking for a takedown. Finch tries to sprawl out of it but Neil keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Finch manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Nice uppercut lands for Finch. That snapped Neil's head back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Neil keeps the fight on the outside. Neil throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Finch blocks a jab. Neil misses with a kick to the body.
Finch tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Neil is able to avoid easily. A combination from Neil does no damage. Neil misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Finch drives through and clinches with Neil against the cage.
Finch is trying to stall.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Finch with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Neil really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Neil has had enough of the clinch but Finch keeps him there for the moment. Neil is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Simon Neil. That's going to take a lot out of him. Neil is breathing heavily. Neil managing to block the knees to the body from Finch.
Neil fails to pull guard.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. A short right from Finch. Finch is leaning against Neil and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Finch slowing the pace effectively. Neil wants a takedown but no success here.
Finch jumps guard and drags Neil to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Neil is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Finch has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Neil is looking to defend but Finch has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Neil! Finch pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Neil taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Jake Finch!
