Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
33 - 18 - 0, fighting out of London, Gustav Ragnarson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
35 - 26 - 0, fighting out of London, Virgil Keller! The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Shimada, Shirou Masuda and Taro Takaoka.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ragnarson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Keller is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Keller slaps away a takedown attempt from Ragnarson, before circling back to the center of the mat. Keller leaves Ragnarson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gustav Ragnarson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Keller defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ragnarson. Keller throws a head kick but Ragnarson moves out of range.
Keller misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Ragnarson shoots for a double leg takedown but Keller sprawls well. He's pushed Ragnarson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Ragnarson has a takedown stuffed. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Keller displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Ragnarson. Keller tries for a takedown but Ragnarson sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Keller. Ragnarson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Keller to the mat! Keller manages to get full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ragnarson landing some decent shots from guard. Ragnarson is in close to Keller's body, working some short punches and elbows. Keller managing to control the position. Ragnarson looking to pass the guard. Ragnarson working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Keller's head. Ragnarson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Keller not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Ragnarson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Ragnarson is looking to work some ground and pound but Keller has wrist control. Ragnarson stands up over Keller, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Keller has momentary wrist control but Ragnarson slips an elbow through the middle. Ragnarson lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Ragnarson stands up over his opponent, looking to dive in with a big punch. Here he comes, superman style! Oh, the punch misses and Keller has got him in a triangle choke for good measure! Oh no! Ragnarson manages to get his head free but now Keller has transitioned to an armbar! Ragnarson grimaces and is forced to tap! Beautiful Jiu Jitsu from Keller! I'd be surprised if that didn't end up as submission of the night!
