Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Yoshi Takano! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bruce Biante! The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Matti Vanhoillinen and Anni Minnemäki.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Biante darts in and clinches Takano up against the cage. Biante drops down looking for an ankle pick but Takano pulls his leg out and moves away.
Biante moves to clinch but Takano breaks away and Takano cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
It looks like Bruce Biante has been cut. Biante swings widly with a right hand
and Takano counters with a low kick, right behind Biante 's knee. Biante misses with a body shot
and Biante takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Biante sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Biante looks winded! Takano lands a body shot.
Biante ducks right into an uppercut from Takano. Takano dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Both fighters circling a little - Takano finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Bruce Biante seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Takano digs a good hook to Biante's body.
Takano buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Takano moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Takano with a body punch. A glancing blow. Biante takes a shot right to the bread basket. Takano lands a big right hand that sends Biante crashing to the mat! Takano stays standing though and waves Biante back to his feet! Takano and Biante are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Takano throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Biante into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Takano knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Yoshi Takano! An out of breath Yoshi Takano thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
