Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joe Schilling! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Morgan Hed! The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Alyssa Summers and Jorge Garcia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hed fails with the takedown and Schilling connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Hed misses with a double jab
and Schilling counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Hed throws a body kick but he was well out of range there. Hed throws a leg kick and Schilling counters with an inside leg kick. Hed changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Schilling tries to avoid it but Hed manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Schilling to the ground. Schilling escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Hed lands a nice hook to Schilling's body. Schilling takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Schilling throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Hed tries to move into range but Schilling moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Hed fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Schilling to the ground. Hed is now in Schilling's guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Schilling controls Hed momentarily but Hed frees himself. Hed throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Schilling works some decent striking defense from the bottom. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Hed working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hed accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Hed loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's one minute gone in the round. Schilling had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hed defends it easily. Hed working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Schilling's head. Hed scoring with some ground and pound. Schilling is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hed trying to control the position from guard on top but Schilling is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Hed won't allow Schilling to sweep him here. Hed lands a couple of decent looking shots. Hed chips away with some ground and pound. Schilling is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Hed is controlling him. Schilling preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Hed is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Hed looking to pass the guard. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Hed landing some decent shots from guard. Schilling is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Hed missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hed pushes Schilling away with a front kick. Nice shot by Schilling. Schilling digs a good body shot into Hed's ribs. Schilling displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hed. Joe Schilling has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Morgan Hed.

A decent looking cross lands there for Schilling. Morgan Hed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Schilling defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Hed. Schilling throws a nice inside leg kick. Hed pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Schilling seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Joe Schilling is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hed punishes Schilling's body with a nice straight punch. Hed looks to throw a body kick and Schilling counters with a lovely straight right hand! Horrible takedown attempt by Hed or perhaps it was just good defense by Schilling, which made it look bad. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Hed. Schilling has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Hed finds it's way round the side to connect with Schilling's head. Hed fails with the takedown and Schilling counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hed fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. This has been an exciting period of action! Schilling scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hed doesn't seem bothered though. Schilling misses with a wild body shot. Horrible takedown attempt by Hed or perhaps it was just good defense by Schilling, which made it look bad. Schilling looked to counter with a high kick but didn't commit. Hed has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Schilling. Schilling throws out a loose jab but Hed uses good head movement to avoid it. Hed misses with a low kick.
Hed has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hed there as he acknowledges the shot. Schilling misses with a body shot.

Schilling is looking to counter with a shot to the body. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Joe Schilling dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Schilling avoids a kick to the body.
Hed throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Schilling's waist but Schilling gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hed off to one side. Schilling is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hed. Hed is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Schilling chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Hed can pounce on him.
A jab from Schilling misses. Schilling is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hed can do to turn this around? Schilling throws a front kick aimed at Hed's knee but Hed avoids it well. Schilling pivots, looking for a leg kick but Hed is out of range and Schilling settles back down. Schilling wants to slow Hed down by chopping away at his legs. Joe Schilling is winning the standup battle so far. Hed throws a low kick but Schilling avoids it. Hed drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hed swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Schilling misses with an uppercut. Hed tries to clinch up but Schilling circles away and keeps his distance. Schilling throwing a counter right hand but Hed manages to avoid it. Hed with a poor takedown letting Schilling counter with a right hand. Hed closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hed thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Schilling wants to improve his position but Hed is controlling well.

Hed has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Schilling pushes Hed off looking to stand but Hed dives back in and keeps control.

Hed stops Schilling from standing up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hed lands a couple of elbows. Schilling utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Hed lands a couple of digs. Schilling is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Hed stops Schilling from standing up.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schilling throws a leg kick that misses. Hed displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Schilling throws out the jab. Jab from Schilling. Hed is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Schilling rather than just go for the knockout. Schilling blocks a head kick by Hed.
Hed gets in close and instigates a clinch. Schilling throws a head punch that misses. Hed struggles to land a body shot inside as Schilling controls his hands.

Schilling has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Schilling works over Hed with some ground and pound from guard. Schilling postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Schilling stands up and waves to Hed to follow him. Hed throws a head kick but Schilling moves out of range.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Hed shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Schilling pinned against the cage. Schilling gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Joe Schilling has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Morgan Hed. Hed drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Schilling throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Hed tries for a takedown but Schilling sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Hed throws a series of punches but Schilling avoids them all with ease. Hed fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Hed scores with a three punch combo!
Hed dives in and grabs Schilling's left leg, looking for a takedown. Schilling pushes down on Hed's head and hops out. A quick step to the side and Schilling tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Hed fails with a takedown attempt from distance. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Joe Schilling will probably get the nod. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Hed might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Schilling haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Hed darts in looking for a takedown but Schilling gets double underhooks and turns Hed into the cage. Hed misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Hed with a poor takedown and Schilling counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Joe Schilling has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Morgan Hed. Hed takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Good exchange - Schilling coming out on top. Schilling feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Heds jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Schilling misses with a leg kick. Hed is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Schilling's half guard. Hed is thwarting Schilling's attempts to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Schilling is trying to stand up here but Hed is controlling him well. Schilling trying to hold on to Hed's head to control him but Hed postures up.

Hed is trying to control the action in half guard but Schilling is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Hed stalling. Hed seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Hed tries to pass the half guard into mount. Schilling knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Schilling regains full guard. Nicely done. Hed is standing up over Schilling. Schilling looks to escape but Hed dives into side control.
Schilling tries to escape but Hed is in control. Hed cracks Schilling with a big right hand but Schilling just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Hed wants to control but Schilling is keeping him busy. Hed is putting a hurting on Schilling here, landing some big shots from side control. Morgan Hed has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. A lull in the action here as Hed stalls from top position. Hed working away.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Morgan Hed. I think Schilling has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

In favor of your winner, by unanimous decision... Joe Schilling! Joe Schilling spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
