PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Son Hickman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sito Sukiki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Son Hickman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sito Sukiki!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hickman darts in and clinches Sukiki up against the cage.

Hickman manages to break the clinch.

Sukiki moves into the clinch.
Sukiki tries to pull guard but Hickman forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
The referee is keeping an eye on Hickman - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Sukiki has Hickman pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Hickman manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Sukiki tries for a takedown. No joy.
Son Hickman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sito Sukiki.
Sukiki jumps guard but Hickman stands there with Sukiki around his waist. Sukiki gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Hickman has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Sukiki uses from the top position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hickman utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Sukiki working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sukiki pushes down on Hickman's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Sukiki is pressing down on Hickman's thigh, looking to free his foot. Hickman is holding on for now.
Sukiki has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hickman wants to improve his position but Sukiki is controlling well.
Hickman knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sukiki on the ground.

Sukiki is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Hickman sees it coming and defends easily.

Sukiki is working for a kimura but Hickman is defending it quite comfortably.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sukiki not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Sukiki maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Hickman could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Sukiki has cracked it and Hickman is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Sukiki!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:25 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Sito Sukiki!
