Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bartel Diakite (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Diakite's entrance music is Diamonds. A fine choice. Joey James will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Diakite circles away quickly and effectively.
Diakite tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but James swivels and escapes.
No joy there for James, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Diakite changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. James tries to avoid it but Diakite manages to keep hold of a leg and drag James to the ground. James escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
James has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Diakite is landing a low percentage of strikes.
James tries to bum rush Diakite with a series of wild strikes but Diakite uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Diakite shoots in but no luck this time.

We've been hearing good reports from Diakite's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
