Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Hoppus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vitor Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vitor Penn looks lathargic as he enters the arena. Wake up son, you're about to have a fight!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mark Hoppus!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitor Penn!
The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Felipe Paraventi and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hoppus tries to avoid it but Penn manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hoppus to the ground. Hoppus escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hoppus lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Hoppus bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.
Penn fails with the takedown.
Penn looks gassed!

Hoppus feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Hoppus trying to control but Penn is working from the bottom.
Hoppus will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Hoppus stands up and waves to Penn to follow him.
Penn moves forwards but Hoppus connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Penn keeps the fight on the outside.
Hoppus fakes the leg kick and cracks Penn in the body.

Hoppus closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Penn to the mat! Penn manages to get full guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hoppus wants to stand but Penn has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Hoppus works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Hoppus moves nicely into side control.
Hoppus trying to control the position but Penn is working away.

Hoppus stands up.

Hoppus shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Hoppus gets to his feet. Penn looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Hoppus shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hoppus get's back to his feet.
Hoppus bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick.

Penn circles away from the clinch attempt.

Hoppus shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Penn looking for a guillotine here but Hoppus defends easily.
Hoppus stops Penn from standing up.
Hoppus trying to control but Penn is working from the bottom.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Penn has a closed guard, preventing Hoppus from standing up.

Hoppus wants to control but Penn is keeping him busy.

Hoppus stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Hoppus shoots in and drives through. Penn sprawls well.
Penn tries for a takedown but Hoppus circles away easily

and Hoppus counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Penn's guard now.
Mark Hoppus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vitor Penn.
Penn tries to land a sweep but no joy.

and Hoppus counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Penn is looking for a sweep. Hoppus is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Hoppus drops an elbow to the side of Penn's head.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hoppus uses his free foot to push down on Penn's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Penn.
Penn tries to get back to half guard but can't.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mark Hoppus dominated that round.

Penn has his takedown stuffed
and Hoppus counters with a solid body kick.

Hoppus looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Penn can't keep his opponent in guard - Hoppus advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Hoppus controlling the action here.

Hoppus stands up and beckons Penn to join him on the feet.
Hoppus is looking to clinch.

Hoppus closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Penn to the mat! Penn manages to get full guard.

Penn escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hoppus gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Penn tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Hoppus has gone for a leg lock! Penn slips out almost immediately though and dives into Hoppus's guard.
Mark Hoppus overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Penn advances to half guard.

Hoppus kicks Penn off and gets back to his feet.
Penn wants to clinch up but Hoppus keeps it at a distance.
Penn misses with a takedown
and Hoppus counters with an inside leg kick.

Mark Hoppus has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vitor Penn.

Hoppus looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Hoppus is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Penn defends it well.

Hoppus is keen to just control but Penn is a slippery customer.
Penn wants to improve his position but Hoppus is controlling well.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hoppus doesn't manage to clinch there - Penn circles away.

and Hoppus counters with a shoot takedown. Penn fights it but they end up in guard.
Penn is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Penn has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Hoppus can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Penn looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hoppus is one step ahead there.
Hoppus throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Penn works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hoppus drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Hoppus jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Penn is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Penn wants to stand and escape but Hoppus is having none of it.

Penn has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hoppus avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Penn gets to his feet - Hoppus follows without any prompting.
Hoppus fakes the leg kick and cracks Penn in the body.

Hoppus closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Penn trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Hoppus manages to pass to mount!
Hoppus tries to control but Penn wriggling away.
Penn is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Hoppus is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Penn can do to turn this around?

Penn keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Hoppus tries to clinch but Penn moves out of range.
Hoppus tries to clinch there but Penn circles away.
Hoppus takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Penn throws a right hand that Hoppus ducks under and follows up with a left that Hoppus also avoids with ease.
Hoppus wants to clinch up but Penn keeps it at a distance.
Vitor Penn has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

and Hoppus counters with a takedown into side control.

Penn is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Hoppus is controlling him well.

Hoppus wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Penn, who protects the arm well.
Penn is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Hoppus stands up out of the half guard.

Penn rushes Hoppus and presses him up against the cage.
Penn is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Penn tries to break the clinch but Hoppus is controlling the position.

Hoppus turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Penn tries to bench press Hoppus off him but Hoppus keeps the position.
Penn regains half guard.
Hoppus uses his free foot to push down on Penn's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Penn.
Penn is in all sorts of trouble here.

Penn is looking to improve his position but Hoppus isn't that keen on the idea.

Hoppus looking for a guillotine from mount but Penn is having none of it.

Hoppus stands up from mount. Strange move.
Penn has developed a nice purple lump on his ribcage, as a result of some heavy body kicks from Hoppus.

Penn shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Penn showed some decent athleticism there.
Hoppus won't allow Penn to pass to mount.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Penn drops an elbow to the side of Hoppus's head.
Mark Hoppus is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Hoppus is trying to maintain the position but Penn is very close to passing his half guard.

Well Hoppus has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
