Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Dougal McGuire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mat Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McGuire comes to the cage accompanied by My Lovely Horse. Diaz comes into a darkened arena with his song building. I Got Five On It kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dougal McGuire! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mat Diaz! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and Daniel Bishop.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McGuire throws a push kick but Diaz slaps the foot to one side. Diaz appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. McGuire scores with a nice right hand.
McGuire has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Diaz thows a left - swing and a miss! Diaz connects with a body shot that sends McGuire's belly button to the back. McGuire uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Diaz.
McGuire throws a body shot but no joy. McGuire avoids a lazy jab quite easily. McGuire scores with a leg kick.
McGuire takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Diaz closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into McGuire's guard. Diaz looking to sit in guard and control but McGuire gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. McGuire won't allow Diaz to sweep him here. Diaz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
McGuire wants to control from the top but Diaz keeps moving.
That's one minute gone in the round. McGuire lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McGuire accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Diaz wants to sweep but no luck. Diaz keeping moving, preventing McGuire from controlling successfully. McGuire has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. McGuire got a little sloppy there for a moment and Diaz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, McGuire has managed to get both his arms back between Diaz's legs - danger averted. McGuire working some strikes from top position. McGuire would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. McGuire is stalling in the full guard. Diaz is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. McGuire is aware though and is defending well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McGuire stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Diaz swivels though and keeps the full guard. Diaz looking for a sweep. Not yet Diaz, not yet. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. McGuire with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. McGuire trying to control but Diaz is working from the bottom. Diaz looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
McGuire working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. McGuire has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Diaz to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! McGuire is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Diaz pulls down on the head and he's put McGuire to sleep! This one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Mat Diaz! During a confident post fight interview, Mat Diaz thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
