Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hershel Cox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vitali Saromenko!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Saromenko has closed the distance and engaged Cox in a clinch.
Saromenko wants to get back to striking at distance but Cox won't allow it.
Cox misses with a body punch.

Saromenko breaks the clinch.
Saromenko throws a head kick that misses.

Cox shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Cox is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Cox prevents Saromenko from improving his position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Saromenko wants to get back to his feet.
Saromenko is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Cox scores with a couple of nice shots.

Saromenko has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cox is working away from the top position though.
Saromenko is looking to escape.
Cox sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Cox not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Saromenko is looking for a sweep. Cox is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cox wants to work for an arm triangle but Saromenko is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Cox wants to lay and pray for a moment but Saromenko keeps working.
Cox really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Cox thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Saromenko's head.
Cox stalling away here and it's allowed Saromenko to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Saromenko keeping moving, preventing Cox from controlling successfully.
Cox is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Saromenko is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Cox throws a leg kick

and Saromenko counters with a takedown into side control.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Cox throws Saromenko to one side and escapes!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Cox misses with a takedown attempt - Saromenko sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Saromenko dives in for a single leg takedown but Cox sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Cox looks to land a combination but Saromenko avoids it well.
Cox moves away from the strike by Saromenko.

Saromenko clinches up against the cage.
Saromenko is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Saromenko is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Saromenko is trying to pull guard but Cox turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Hershel Cox has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vitali Saromenko.
Saromenko blocks the elbow strike.

A bit of stalling here from Saromenko.
Saromenko managing to block the knees to the body from Cox.
Saromenko wants a takedown.
Saromenko is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Cox is defending well.

Saromenko jumps guard but Cox stands there with Saromenko around his waist. Saromenko gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Saromenko fails to pull the fight into his guard.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Saromenko throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Cox blocks it with crossed arms.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hershel Cox dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Cox throws a low kick but Saromenko moves out of range easily.
Saromenko cracks Cox with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Saromenko shoots in for a takedown but Cox shows good takedown defense.
Cox tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Saromenko manages to circle out of the way.

Saromenko rushes Cox and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Saromenko breaks the clinch.
Saromenko fails with the takedown

and Cox counters with a takedown into side control.

Saromenko is not content to let Cox control the position.
Saromenko struggling a bit here.

Saromenko being controlled for a moment.
Saromenko is looking for a sweep.
Saromenko wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Saromenko tries to buck Cox off but Cox is having none of it.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Cox tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

Cox working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Cox thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Saromenko is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Cox off and has taken his back!
Cox trying to get back to his feet but Saromenko is in full control for now.
Cox knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Saromenko on the ground.
Saromenko controls the position.

Cox tries to escape the position.
Cox is working hard here to advance position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Saromenko is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Cox defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.

Cox is squirming around looking to escape but he's just wriggling himself into more trouble. Saromenko sinks in the hooks and manages to tighten his grip on a rear naked choke. Cox has no choice but to tap and Saromenko jumps to his feet to celebrate and slick submission win!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:12 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Vitali Saromenko!
