Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Russian Obama (ranked 30 p4p, 5 weight class) and Matt Quin (ranked 25 p4p, 3 weight class). Obama comes to the cage accompanied by 5 minutes Alone. The crowd seem to be enjoying Quin's choice of entrance music: Captain Jack - Iko Iko. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
29 - 8 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Russian Obama! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
29 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Matt Quin! The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Obama takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Obama throws a lazy uppercut
and Quin counters with a right hand to the body. Quin lands with a cross. Quin throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Quin misses with a hook. Quin has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Quin throws a lazy right hand but Obama sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Obama throws a jab but it's blocked by Quin. Obama lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Quin at a distance.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Quin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Obama keeps working.

It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while. You can see the frustration on Obama's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Quin wants to control but Obama is keeping him busy. Quin might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Obama haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Obama might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

That's one minute gone in the round. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Obama lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Quin has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Quin and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Quin stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Russian Obama seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Quin tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Obama was well out of range. Poor timing from Quin. Sloppy strikes from Quin. Those never looked like landing. Quin takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. Quin throws a big shot that misses. A counter left hand to the body from Obama misses its target. Quin lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Obama at a distance.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Russian Obama. I think Quin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
