Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Austin McCartney (ranked 4013 p4p, 456 weight class) and Shinsuke Kobayashi (ranked 7100 p4p, 643 weight class). McCartney's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Lord of the Boy. Shinsuke Kobayashi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Austin McCartney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shinsuke Kobayashi! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Taro Takaoka and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from McCartney. Kobayashi throws a combination that misses and McCartney counters with a nice double leg into guard. Kobayashi has his foot on McCartney's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McCartney works his way back into a safe position though. Kobayashi has an active guard here but McCartney has managed to pass into half guard.
McCartney is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
McCartney seems to be looking for submissions.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with McCartney in particular looking to stall. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kobayashi lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. McCartney is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

McCartney fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Kobayashi to the ground. McCartney is now in Kobayashi's guard. McCartney keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kobayashi's head. Kobayashi looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
McCartney is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Kobayashi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McCartney gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. McCartney is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kobayashi can do to turn this around? Kobayashi can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McCartney controls the pace. Kobayashi looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! McCartney has picked Kobayashi up and slammed him! Kobayashi can't keep hold of the triangle and McCartney manages to pass to side control! We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kobayashi is trying to get back to half guard. McCartney controlling the position from side mount. McCartney manages to hold on to the position though. Kobayashi tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but McCartney wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

The referee asks McCartney politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. McCartney prefers to stall for the moment though. Kobayashi tries to get back to half guard but can't. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!

McCartney has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. McCartney lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. McCartney is working for a guillotine from mount but Kobayashi frees his head quite easily.

McCartney is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kobayashi defends it well. Kobayashi is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McCartney pulls his head out easily. McCartney slows the pace down in half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. McCartney seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kobayashi for as long as he can get away with. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Austin McCartney dominated that second round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
McCartney shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kobayashi as he avoids it easily. McCartney with a lazy takedown attempt and Kobayashi counters with a nice uppercut. McCartney closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Kobayashi breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kobayashi throws a nice looking combination but McCartney bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Kobayashi lands a jab-cross combination. McCartney misses with a takedown and Kobayashi counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Austin McCartney. That's going to take a lot out of him. A right-left combo lands from Kobayashi. McCartney throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kobayashi's waist but Kobayashi gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing McCartney off to one side. Kobayashi stuns McCartney with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. This has been an exciting period of action! Kobayashi rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but McCartney moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Kobayashi misses with a two punch combination.

That's one minute gone in the round. Kobayashi ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. McCartney fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kobayashi, pushing him back against the cage. McCartney keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Kobayashi's efforts to push away. McCartney wants the takedown. Kobayashi is fighting it off but McCartney persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Kobayashi's guard against the cage. Kobayashi is looking to stand up but McCartney isn't so interested in that idea. Kobayashi is looking for a triangle but McCartney pushes his legs off easily.
