PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between El Chapo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ivor Colde (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chapo has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. El Chapo had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, El Chapo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ivor Colde!
The judges for this bout are David Hoff, Daniel Franklin and Bart Greer.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Chapo misses with a lunging right hand

and Colde counters with a single leg into guard. Chapo didn't expect that.
Chapo is looking to stand up but Colde isn't so interested in that idea.
Colde sitting in guard here, content to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Chapo is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Colde drops back looking for a leg! Chapo is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Chapo manages to kick Colde off! Colde jumps back into Chapo's guard.
Colde stops Chapo from standing up.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Colde is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Chapo can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Colde controls the pace.
Chapo wants to stand up but Colde is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Chapo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Colde is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Chapo misses with a body shot.
Colde feints the counter takedown.
Colde slips a jab from Chapo.
Colde drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Chapo defends it well.
Chapo is breathing heavily.
Chapo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
And Colde tries to counter it with a takedown but Chapo pushes his down on his head and steps out.
Chapo throws an off balance right hand

and Colde counters with a single leg into guard. Chapo didn't expect that.
Colde working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Chapo's head.
Colde landing with the ground and pound.
Colde controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Chapo wants to stand up but Colde is controlling him.
Colde controls from within his opponent's guard.
Chapo knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Colde on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Chapo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Colde is controlling him.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Chapo looks to land a right hand but Colde moved out of range.
Chapo throws a predictable looking body shot

and Colde counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Chapo scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Colde manages to mount him!
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Colde controlling his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ivor Colde dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Chapo throws a hook but Colde blocks it.
Colde drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Chapo defends it well.
Chapo uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Colde has time to react.
Colde has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Chapo throws a lazy right hand but Colde sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Chapo throws a poor cross that misses

and Colde counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Colde trying to control the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chapo pushes Colde off but Colde dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Chapo is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Chapo bucks up and tries to throw Colde off but instead Colde has got his back!
Ivor Colde has got the better of the ground game so far.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Colde controlling the positon.

Colde is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Chapo taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Colde.
