Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Shannon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and MIke Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Shannon might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to 'Black Widow' ; Children of Bodom.. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Glass and Steven Brown.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Jones closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Jones is looking for a kimura but Shannon is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jones to get the leverage.
Shannon has his hands clasped together around Jones's back. He's all about the action.
Shannon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Shannon preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.

Jones wants to work for an arm triangle but Shannon is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Jones is trying to control the action in half guard but Shannon is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Shannon is concentrating on defense, preventing Jones from advancing position.
Shannon is trying to control but can't.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shannon is doing well to control the position and prevent Jones from advancing to side control.

Jones is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Shannon is just riding it out for now. Jones eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Shannon keeps control of the position for the meantime.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but MIke Jones will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Shannon shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Still in half guard, Shannon seems content to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones actively working from the bottom here.
Jones is trying to control but can't.
Shannon trying to control the pace.
Jones wants to improve his position but Shannon is controlling well.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Shannon with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.

The referee stands the fighters back up. John Shannon just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Jones with a lazy takedown attempt

and Shannon counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Jones is looking for a triangle here but Shannon uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Shannon content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Jones tries to bench press Shannon off him but Shannon keeps the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Shannon's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Jones doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Shannon decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jones's guard.
Shannon is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Jones working a defensive guard but Shannon passes into half guard.

Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Shannon controlling the position easily from mount.

Shannon has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Jones tries to lock up and control but Shannon gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

And that's the end of the fight!
John Shannon showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Shannon has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
