Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between simon smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and michael Knight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
smith misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
smith gets caught flat footed, as Knight shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Knight stands and steps away. smith gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

and Knight counters with a good low kick that smith was not able to check.

smith shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Knight as he jumps to the side.

Knight tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but smith paws at him with a jab and circles away.

smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Knight tries to avoid it but smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Knight to the ground. Knight escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Knight decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in smith's guard.

Knight postures up in smith's guard and throws a big left but smith blocks it.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Knight's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
smith on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if smith tries to get out of the position.
Knight wants to control from the top but smith keeps moving.
Knight has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Knight fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. smith sprawls well initially but Knight persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Knight connects with a nice short shot to smith's temple.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Knight cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

michael Knight showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

and smith counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Knight thinking.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

michael Knight is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
smith working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Knight doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Knight manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Well Knight has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
