PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Anderson James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and PJ McMackin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McMackin has chosen Eminem - 3 am (Travis Barker Remix) as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Anderson James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, PJ McMackin!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.


It looks like PJ McMackin has been cut.
PJ McMackin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

James has closed the distance and engaged McMackin in a clinch.
McMackin is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
McMackin tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. James smiles and moves away.

McMackin gets caught flat footed, as James shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
McMackin is trying to keep James in close.
McMackin bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in James's guard.

McMackin has gone for a leg lock! James slips out almost immediately though and dives into McMackin's guard.

James connects with a couple of short punches.

James wants to pass the guard but McMackin is keeping the position.

McMackin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. James doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. James manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
James wants to control from the top but McMackin keeps moving.

McMackin has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. James is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for McMackin.

James decides to stand back up. James steps back and let's McMackin get back to his feet.
McMackin looks gassed!

James gets a clinch.

McMackin tries to score a body lock takedown but James shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
James fails to pull the fight into his guard.
McMackin wants a takedown but no success here.
Anderson James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of PJ McMackin.
McMackin gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from James.
James lands a nice elbow from the clinch.
James fails to pull guard.
McMackin wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
James scores with a knee to the head.
McMackin prevents the takedown attempt.
James has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. McMackin is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

McMackin is trying to break free.

James breaks from the clinch.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
James wants a takedown but no success here.
James missing with knees to the body.
McMackin jumps guard but James stands there with McMackin around his waist. McMackin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

McMackin pulls guard.
McMackin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

McMackin is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.
McMackin gets underhooks to prevent James's takedown attempt.
McMackin fails to pull the fight into his guard.
James tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
McMackin tries for a takedown but James manages to get underhooks.
James goes for a takedown attempt but McMackin pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
James lands a slapping body shot.
McMackin throws a leg kick which misses James's front leg but catches the back leg as James tries to avoid it.
James fails with the takedown.

McMackin looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
James wants to sweep but no luck.
McMackin throwing strikes but missing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
McMackin looking to pass the guard.
McMackin trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

McMackin drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and James dives on top into guard.

McMackin has his feet on James's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
James will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
McMackin fails to land the takedown.
McMackin closes this distance looking for a takedown but James circles away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
James has his takedown stuffed

and McMackin decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in James's guard.
McMackin slips nicely into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but PJ McMackin will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on PJ McMackin's cut.
That's time! James's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


McMackin tries to clinch up
and James counters with a three punch combo that has McMackin backing up. McMackin nods at James to acknowledge the strikes.
McMackin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
McMackin fails with an attempt to clinch.

McMackin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. James looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
McMackin scores with punches from side control.
McMackin lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
McMackin looks up at the clock and then as James takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, McMackin smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McMackin on the ground.
McMackin passes to full mount! That's big trouble for James!
McMackin tries to control but James wriggling away.

McMackin throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! James has his hands clasped together but McMackin breaks the hold and James is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by McMackin!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). PJ McMackin!
