Ferdum comes to the cage accompanied by PARIS - the devil made me do it. Deux has chosen Post Party Depression as his entrance music. Wabricio Ferdum had a look across the cage there at his opponent. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
15 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Wabricio Ferdum! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
25 - 29 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Numero Deux! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Deux doesn't manage to clinch there - Ferdum circles away.
Deux fails with a takedown attempt. Deux tries to clinch but Ferdum moves away and Ferdum cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Deux throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ferdum counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Ferdum lands a jab to Deux's midsection. Deux throws a right hand that misses
and Ferdum cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Ferdum manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Deux on his heels. He'll look to pass Deux's guard now, I'm sure. Deux looking to hit a scissor sweep but Ferdum is one step ahead there. Ferdum in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Deux pushes Ferdum off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Ferdum loads up on a big right hand but Deux slips the punch. Deux wants to counter with a clinch but Ferdum pushes him away. Ferdum ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Deux moves away. A countering left hand to the body from Deux misses. Deux lands with a nice combination. Ferdum backs away looking to recover. Deux fails with an attempt to clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Deux tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Ferdum counters with a stiff right hand. Deux tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ferdum paws at him with a jab and circles away. Deux shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ferdum pinned against the cage. Ferdum gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Ferdum manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Deux on his heels. He'll look to pass Deux's guard now, I'm sure. Ferdum with a nice head shot there. Ferdum loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Ferdum working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Ferdum throws a big elbow that misses. Deux has momentary wrist control but Ferdum slips an elbow through the middle. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Deux trying to keep a closed guard but Ferdum is proving a slippery customer.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ferdum throws a big right hand that misses. Deux looking to control.
Ferdum wants to pass the guard but Deux is keeping the position. Ferdum throwing strikes from guard but Deux blocks nicely. Deux is looking to stand up but Ferdum isn't so interested in that idea. Deux working a defensive guard here.
Ferdum is in close to Deux's body, working some short punches and elbows. Ferdum postures up in Deux's guard and throws a big left but Deux blocks it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Deux throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Ferdum is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Deux is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Deux has escaped and now he's on top!
Ferdum looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Deux stands and steps away. Ferdum gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Deux misses with the combination.
An attempted straight right counter from Ferdum misses the target. Deux tries to sprawl but Ferdum drives through with a takedown into half guard. Deux wants to control but Ferdum is keeping busy.
Ferdum tries to pass to full mount but Deux defends it. Deux told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Deux gets full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ferdum working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Ferdum throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Deux works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Deux is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ferdum lands a couple of digs. Ferdum in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Ferdum stands and throws Deux's legs to the side, diving into side control. Deux is trying to buck Ferdum off. Ferdum wants to control but Deux is keeping him busy. Ferdum cracks Deux with a big elbow. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Wabricio Ferdum dominated that round. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!
A lazy left from Ferdum finds it's target. Deux throws a left and a right that both miss
and Ferdum counters with a series of strikes that sends Deux to the canvas! Ferdum follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight!
Deux is rocked! Ferdum stands up over Deux, holding on to his feet. Ferdum throws the legs to one side and dives in with a huge shot that lands flush on the chin! Deux is out cold! Ferdum lands a couple more shots and the ref tackles him out of the way! What a brutal finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Wabricio Ferdum! A victorious Wabricio Ferdum thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter. Numero Deux was interviewed post fight and said 'Tell me when the fire dies down... What the F will you do?!?!'.
