Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jon Jinx! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Emanuel Rodrigez! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rodrigez closes the distance and clinches. Jinx jumps guard.
Rodrigez has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Jinx is proving hard to escape from. Jinx throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Jinx has his foot on Rodrigez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Rodrigez works his way back into a safe position though. Rodrigez decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Jinx, up you get! Jinx scores with a takedown into Rodrigez's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rodrigez working a defensive guard here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Rodrigez seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now. Jinx engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jinx wants to stand and escape but instead Rodrigez has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Jinx looking to hit a scissor sweep but Rodrigez is one step ahead there. Rodrigez trying to control but Jinx is working from the bottom. Rodrigez throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Jinx pulls Rodrigez in close to prevent any damage. Jinx wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Jinx wants to stand and escape but Rodrigez is having none of it. Jinx has control of Rodrigez's left arm, preventing Rodrigez from doing any damage. Rodrigez trying to control the position from guard on top but Jinx is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jinx is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Jinx might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Jinx has a closed guard, preventing Rodrigez from standing up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Rodrigez is looking to clinch but Jinx is avoiding it.
Emanuel Rodrigez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Rodrigez fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jinx throws a counter high kick but Rodrigez was just alert enough to avoid it. Jinx fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Rodrigez to the ground. Jinx is now in Rodrigez's guard. Rodrigez pushes Jinx off and scrambles back to his feet.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Jinx pulls guard. Jinx can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Rodrigez controls the pace. Jinx trying to keep a closed guard but Rodrigez is proving a slippery customer.

Rodrigez has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at Red House. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Rodrigez might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Jinx haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Jinx swats away the attempt to clinch by Rodrigez. Rodrigez is looking to take this fight into the clinch. A head kick misses from Rodrigez. Jinx clinches with his opponent.
Our sources have told us that Jinx has been working on his elbows in the gym. Jinx lands a takedown into guard.
Rodrigez pushes Jinx off and gets back to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Horrible takedown attempt by Jinx or perhaps it was just good defense by Rodrigez, which made it look bad. Rodrigez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Jinx as he jumps to the side. Rodrigez looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Jinx throws a big counter combination but Rodrigez scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Emanuel Rodrigez will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Rodrigez throws a body kick that misses and Jinx counters with a nice double leg into guard. Rodrigez is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched. Jinx has picked Rodrigez up - he's going for a ride! Jinx dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Jinx seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rodrigez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jinx is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Rodrigez is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Jinx controlling the pace. Jinx decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet. No luck with that takedown attempt from Jinx.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rodrigez misses with a takedown attempt and Jinx counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Rodrigez is breathing heavily. Rodrigez is looking to clinch. Jinx clinches. Jinx gets through Rodrigez's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Rodrigez is fighting off a takedown attempt but Jinx is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Rodrigez to the mat. Rodrigez regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Jinx looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Jinx trying to stand up but can't free himself from Rodrigez's guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rodrigez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jinx is one step ahead there. Rodrigez is trying to keep Jinx in close.
Jinx controls the pace of the fight for a moment. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Emanuel Rodrigez has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jinx trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Jon Jinx is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rodrigez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Jinx counters with a leg kick. Rodrigez doesn't succeed with the takedown and Jinx counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Jon Jinx has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Emanuel Rodrigez. Jinx moves into range and clinches up with Rodrigez. Rodrigez drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Jinx gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Jinx gets a trip takedown into half guard. Jinx seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Jinx trying to pass the guard but Rodrigez defending well. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jinx looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Rodrigez wants to control but Jinx is keeping busy.
Still in half guard, Jinx seems content to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jon Jinx dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Jinx gets a clinch. Rodrigez gets control of Jinx's arms and successfully pulls guard. Rodrigez will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Jinx seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Rodrigez is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Jinx has his hands clasped together but Rodrigez extends and breaks Jinx's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Rodrigez.
