Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, DeeJay Kawana! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, cody Jensen! The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Fujiwara and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kawana misses with a hook. Jensen ducked under it nicely. DeeJay Kawana seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Kawana tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jensen swats him away and circles back towards the center. Jensen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jensen closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Jensen lands in his opponent's guard. Jensen wants to get up but he can't break Kawana's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Jensen postures up in Kawana's guard and throws a big left but Kawana blocks it. Jensen trying to control but Kawana is working from the bottom. Kawana knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jensen on the ground. Kawana looking to hit a scissor sweep but Jensen is one step ahead there. Kawana really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Kawana keeping moving, preventing Jensen from controlling successfully.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jensen slips nicely into half guard. Kawana is looking for a sweep. Jensen is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Jensen wants to take a breather but Kawana is having none of it.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Jensen takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Jensen shoots in and bounces Kawana off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Jensen controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Let's hope that Jensen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Jensen's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Kawana is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jensen controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Jensen trying to control but Kawana is working from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kawana pulls Jensen in close to prevent any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Kawana trying to keep a closed guard but Jensen is proving a slippery customer.
Jensen postures up in Kawana's guard and throws a big left but Kawana blocks it. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Kawana holds on and takes a little breather. Jensen trying to control the position from guard on top but Kawana is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Jensen gets to his feet. Kawana looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Kawana is breathing heavily. Jensen misses with a takedown attempt - Kawana sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Kawana keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Jensen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. DeeJay Kawana has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of cody Jensen. Jensen fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Kawana throws a leg kick but Jensen checks it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Jensen throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kawana's waist but Kawana gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jensen off to one side. Kawana gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Jensen wants to control from the top but Kawana keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
cody Jensen dominated that round. That's time! Kawana's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
A left and a right from Kawana both land. Nice combination. Kawana tries to close the distance and clinch but Jensen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Kawana tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jensen swats him away and circles back towards the center. Jensen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Kawana blocking the ground and pound attempt from Jensen. Kawana trying to control from the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Jensen trying to control from half guard but Kawana is working away. Jensen thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kawana's head.

Kawana tries to roll over but Jensen keeps him under control. Kawana is defending against the submission attempts here by Jensen.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. A punch combination from Kawana misses. Kawana doesn't manage to clinch there - Jensen circles away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Kawana throws the kick towards the body but Jensen avoids it. Jensen shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Jensen stands up and beckons Kawana to join him on the feet. Jensen closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kawana to the mat! Kawana manages to get full guard. Kawana is looking to sweep but instead, Jensen has passed into half guard.
Jensen not doing much here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kawana is refusing to be controlled, as Jensen sits in half guard. Jensen stands up out of the half guard. Kawana instigates a clinch. Kawana is looking to break free of the clinch but Jensen has double underhooks. Kawana is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Jensen has Kawana pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Jensen pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Kawana tumbling to the mat - Jensen dives into Kawana's guard. Kawana looking to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jensen trying to control the position from guard on top but Kawana is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Kawana can't keep his opponent in guard - Jensen advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Jensen looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Kawana with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
cody Jensen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!
Kawana gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Jensen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kawana works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Jensen advances to half guard. Jensen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Kawana is just riding it out for now. Jensen eventually gives up the hold. Jensen is trying to control the action in half guard but Kawana is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kawana wants to control but Jensen is keeping busy and won't allow it. Kawana is trying to stand.
Kawana keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. Jensen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Kawana tries to get to full guard but Jensen has control of the leg.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Jensen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kawana sees it coming and defends easily. Jensen throwing shots but Kawana is blocking nicely. Ground and pound from Jensen.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jensen passes to full mount! Kawana can't escape the position.
Kawana wants to hold on but Jensen pushes him away. Kawana is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jensen is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. A nice elbow there by Jensen. Kawana wants to control but Jensen is having none of it. DeeJay Kawana has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Jensen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Kawana is looking to improve his position but Jensen isn't that keen on the idea. Jensen scoring with strikes but Kawana is staying in there. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Jensen controlling from the full mount. cody Jensen is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
And that's the end of the fight! cody Jensen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Jensen winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
