Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Newport (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Guus Meeuwis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Newport comes to the cage accompanied by Slipknot-Psychosocial. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck for Meeuwis with that takedown attempt. Jack Newport seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Meeuwis circles away from the clinch attempt.
Meeuwis scores with a takedown into Newport's guard. Meeuwis is in close to Newport's body, working some short punches and elbows. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Newport keeping moving, preventing Meeuwis from controlling successfully. Meeuwis wants to pass the guard but Newport is keeping the position. Newport is trying to control the position from the bottom.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Newport wants to clinch. Newport clinches up against the cage. Newport content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Newport tries to land a knee to the head but Meeuwis blocks with his arms.

Newport's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Newport tries to sprawl out of it but Meeuwis keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Newport manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Jack Newport has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. Meeuwis has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Newport clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Meeuwis is working the ground and pound here and the referee is taking a close look at Newport. He must escape soon or this one will be stopped. Meeuwis patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here? Newport trying to control but not successfully. Meeuwis tightening his grip on Newport, looking for the choke. Meeuwis is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Newport is tapping out! This one is all over!
