Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dirk Diggler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Bayden Wood! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Wood wants to clinch but Diggler slips to the side and Diggler counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Diggler. Diggler drops back looking for a leg! Wood is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Wood manages to kick Diggler off! Diggler jumps back into Wood's guard. Diggler throws a big right hand that misses. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Diggler's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Diggler trying to control but Wood is working from the bottom. Diggler pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wood is keeping the position for now. Diggler working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Diggler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Diggler throwing strikes from guard but Wood blocks nicely. Diggler pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Wood is keeping the position for now. Wood trying to control the position.

That's one minute gone in the round. Diggler is working Wood over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. Diggler throws an elbow that misses. Wood uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Diggler's guard. Nice move by Wood! Wood working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Wood trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Wood trying to control the position from guard on top but Diggler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Wood is looking to work some ground and pound but Diggler has wrist control. Diggler is looking for a triangle but Wood pushes his legs off easily.
Wood tries to free his leg and advance position but Diggler is retaining full guard. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Wood accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Wood is pushing down on Diggler's leg trying to pass to half guard. Diggler is fighting to maintain full guard but Wood has managed to sneak the leg through. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Diggler is not content to let Wood control the position. We've been hearing good reports from Diggler's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diggler wants to improve his position but Wood is controlling well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Diggler looking for submissions off his back. Wood passes to full mount! Diggler tries to get back to half guard but can't. Wood looking to control but Diggler is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Wood passes the guard and advances to mount! Diggler bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
That's four minutes gone in the round. Diggler working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Diggler stands up over Wood, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Wood wants to stand and escape but Diggler is having none of it. Diggler trying to control but Wood is working from the bottom. Diggler looking to pass the guard. Diggler avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Diggler postures up in Wood's guard and throws a big left but Wood blocks it. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Diggler connects with a couple of short punches. Diggler looking to pass the guard. Diggler is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Wood lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Dirk Diggler is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Diggler drives through with a takedown into guard. Wood not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Diggler forces his way into half guard. Wood felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Diggler is trying to work for a kimura but Wood is defending well.
Ground and pound from Diggler. Diggler lands strikes from half guard. Wood is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Diggler lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Diggler seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wood does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diggler is controlling the pace.
Diggler is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Diggler wants to pass the guard but Wood is defending well. Wood trying to control but Diggler postures up.
Wood wants to get back to full guard. Diggler tries to pass the half guard into mount. Wood knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt. Diggler looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Diggler thows a huge punch but Wood dodges it nicely.
Diggler has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Diggler in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Diggler working Wood over with strikes. Diggler passes the guard and advances to mount! Diggler cracks Wood with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Diggler lands a big elbow - Wood is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Wood is forced to tap out!
