The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kortez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Kortez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Patton sprawls well initially but Kortez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Patton scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Kortez manages to mount him!
Kortez breaks from Patton's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Kortez can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Patton is looking to escape.
Patton is working to get back to half guard.
Kortez wants to control the pace but Patton is squirming around nicely.

Patton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Kortez on the ground.
Patton is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Kortez lands a couple of good shots and Patton has given up his back, trying to escape the position!
