PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between David Hamil (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cain Bombardo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hamil's entrance music is I want to know what love is. A fine choice. Bombardo has chosen All of the lights as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bombardo has managed to clinch.
Bombardo is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Hamil jumps guard and drags Bombardo to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Hamil holds on and takes a little breather. Bombardo wants to stand and escape but instead Hamil has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Hamil landing with the ground and pound. Bombardo wants to stand but Hamil is controlling the position. Hamil pushing down on Bombardo's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Bombardo should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hamil slows the pace down in half guard. Hamil is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Bombardo! Hamil working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Bombardo looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Hamil! Submission of the night perhaps?
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). David Hamil! In his post fight interview, David Hamil started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
