PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Deyontay Jordan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bwanali Longwe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Longwe has chosen kojo funds dun talking as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Deyontay Jordan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Bwanali Longwe! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Bruno Hogan and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Longwe has Jordan up against the cage in a clinch.
Jordan is fighting off a takedown attempt but Longwe is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Jordan to the mat. Jordan regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Longwe wants to pass the guard but Jordan is keeping the position. Jordan trying to keep a closed guard but Longwe is proving a slippery customer.
Longwe is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Jordan really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jordan controls Longwe momentarily but Longwe frees himself. Longwe must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jordan wants to control but Longwe passes easily into half guard.
Longwe is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Jordan slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Longwe wants to pass the guard but Jordan is keeping the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Longwe preventing the sweep. Longwe wants to control from the top but Jordan keeps moving. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Longwe won't allow Jordan to sweep him here.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Nice sprawl there from Jordan as Longwe shoots in. Jordan tries to counter by clinching up but Longwe breaks away and moves out of range. Longwe fails to land the takedown. Nice takedown defense from Longwe. No joy for Jordan on that attempt. Longwe closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Jordan wants to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Jordan looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Longwe tries to stand but can't do so whilst Jordan controls his leg. Longwe is looking for a kimura here.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Longwe in particular looking to stall. Longwe thows a huge punch but Jordan dodges it nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Jordan trying to hold on to Longwe's head to control him but Longwe postures up.
Jordan moves into full guard.
Longwe stopping the sweep attempt from Jordan. Longwe wants to control from the top but Jordan keeps moving. Longwe really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jordan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Longwe wants to stand but Jordan has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Longwe shoots for a double leg takedown but Jordan sprawls well. He's pushed Longwe's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Bwanali Longwe dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Jordan changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Longwe looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Jordan stands up. Longwe moves into the clinch. Longwe lands a takedown into guard.
Jordan is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Longwe presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Longwe turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! Jordan throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done! Longwe moves into the clinch. Longwe working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Longwe as Jordan tries to tie him up. Longwe tries for a takedown but Jordan manages to get underhooks.
Jordan pulls Longwe into guard.
Jordan pushes a forearm under Longwe's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Longwe is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
