PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jarkko Kilpi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Stevenson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kilpi comes to the cage accompanied by Solid Base - I Like It. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jarkko Kilpi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Stevenson!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevenson swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Kilpi decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Stevenson's guard.
Kilpi pushing down on Stevenson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Kilpi slows the pace down in half guard.
Kilpi has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Kilpi tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Stevenson holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Kilpi tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kilpi takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Stevenson is wriggling around trying to escape.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kilpi controlling the pace for now.
Kilpi lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Kilpi trying to control but Stevenson is having none of it.
Stevenson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kilpi. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kilpi is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Stevenson is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Kilpi content just to control the position here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stevenson wants to control but Kilpi is having none of it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Stevenson is in all sorts of trouble here.
Kilpi lands a couple of good shots and Stevenson has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Kilpi sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Stevenson taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jarkko Kilpi!
Jarkko Kilpi seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
