Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Midget! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
35 - 76 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Brij Khali! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight. Midget shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Midget was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Midget is staying tight to Khali's torso, preventing him from escaping. Midget working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Midget is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Khali is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Midget goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Khali has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Midget but great work by Khali. Midget tries to get back to half guard but can't. Midget tries to control the position but he's not in luck - Khali easily slips into full mount! Midget might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Midget can't escape the position.
Midget tries to hold on but Khali pushes him away. Midget working to try and regain half guard.
Midget tries to lock up and control but Khali gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Midget is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Midnight MMA that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. Khali really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Midget. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Midget is looking to get to half guard. Midget tries to lock up and control but Khali gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Midget regains half guard. Midget actively working from the bottom here.
