Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Greg Ward! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joseph Jackson! The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Good standup being displayed there by Ward as he connects with a hook. Jackson lands a nice shot to the body.
Jackson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ward will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Jackson fails to land with a series of punches.
Ward feinted with a counter takedown. Jab from Ward. Jackson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Ward loads up on a big right hand but Jackson slips the punch. Jackson swinging wildly here.
We've been hearing reports that Ward has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. A punch combination from Jackson misses. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Ward avoids a punch combination nicely.
Ward appears to be looking for a counter takedown. Ward shoots for a double leg takedown but Jackson sprawls well. He's pushed Ward's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Ward connects with a good right hand that stumbles Jackson. Jackson circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Jackson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Ward takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

That's one minute gone in the round. Ward misses with a wild body shot. Jackson lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected. Jackson throws the left hand but Ward avoids the punch easily. Ward misses with a body shot.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Jackson! But no joy. Jackson looks to land a combination but Ward avoids it well. Jackson avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Ward tests Jackson's chin there with a solid looking shot. A punch combination from Jackson misses. Jackson takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Ward connects with a right hand. Jackson shakes it off. Ward bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Jackson tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ward thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ward trying to control but Jackson is having none of it. Ward controlling the pace for now. Jackson is squirming around, avoiding Ward's attempts to control the action. Jackson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ward. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Ward with good strikes from the mount here! Ward controlling the pace for now. Ward looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.

Ward breaks from Jackson's wrist control and lands an elbow. Jackson is squirming around, avoiding Ward's attempts to control the action. Jackson is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Ward working the ground and pound effectively.
Ward controlling his opponent. Jackson in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Ward cracks Jackson with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Ward takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though. Ward dominating with strikes here. Ward sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jackson takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Ward controlling the position easily from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Greg Ward dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Jackson misses with a straight right. Ward with a jab. Jackson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ward circles away quickly and effectively. Ward slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Jackson misses with a straight left. Ward fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Jackson. Jackson gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Jackson is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Jackson wants to stand up but Ward is controlling him. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Ward cracks Jackson with a solid left hand. Greg Ward overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Ward trying to control the position from guard on top but Jackson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ward passes easily into side control. Nice work. Ward is trying to get an arm triangle but Jackson is defending well. Jackson is trying to buck Ward off. Ward advances to mount. Ward is in the full mount, landing strikes.
It looks like Joseph Jackson has been cut. Ward looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ward has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Jackson's face.

Ward swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Jackson is now in Ward's guard. A big mistake from Ward there, giving up the dominant position! Ward controlling the position. Ward kicks Jackson off and gets to his feet.

Ward shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Ward is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Ward controlling his opponent.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Ward looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jackson can do anything to dispel that myth. Ward controlling the pace for now. Jackson wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Joseph Jackson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jackson throws a lazy right hand but Ward sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Jackson misses with a straight right. Jackson throws a good cross that connects.
Ward bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Jackson's head backwards. Ward lands with a good body shot. A shot to the body from Ward misses and Jackson cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Ward is rocked! Joseph Jackson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ward jabbing away but nothing is landing. Oh Ward is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Jackson fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Ward out cold! Brutal finish!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Superman Punch). Joseph Jackson! A very excited looking Joseph Jackson rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
