PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jerome Alviso (ranked 3947 p4p, 392 weight class) and Cormac McCarthy (ranked 5604 p4p, 497 weight class). Alviso comes to the cage accompanied by Oakland. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jerome Alviso!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Cormac McCarthy!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, Eddie Farnsworth and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alviso throws a hook but McCarthy blocks it.
Alviso has a takedown stuffed.
Alviso is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
McCarthy jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Alviso has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Touch Of Death Combat Academy in the buildup to the fight.

McCarthy slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Alviso wants to sweep but no luck.
Alviso wants to stand up but McCarthy is controlling him.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
McCarthy seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Cormac McCarthy showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Alviso changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Alviso throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
McCarthy now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
McCarthy clobbers Alviso with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Oh Alviso is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Alviso throws a head kick but McCarthy moves out of range.
McCarthy moves away from the strike by Alviso.
Alviso looks up at the clock. Bad move! McCarthy lands a right hand from hell, dropping Alviso. McCarthy pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:25 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Cormac McCarthy!
A very excited looking Cormac McCarthy made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
The defeated Jerome Alviso had this to say: 'My dad and brother are going to kick my ass again when I get home...'.
