0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Derrek Dorfsen! The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Reed Andrews and Dean Styles.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dorfsen darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Kennedy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dorfsen on the ground. Kennedy is trying to stand up here but Dorfsen is controlling him well. Dorfsen is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Kennedy has managed to free his arm - good work. Dorfsen landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Dorfsen is working for a kimura but Kennedy is defending it quite comfortably.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Dorfsen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Kennedy sees it coming and defends easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Dorfsen thows a huge punch but Kennedy dodges it nicely.
Dorfsen drops an elbow to the side of Kennedy 's head. Dorfsen sitting and controlling from the half guard. Kennedy slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Dorfsen is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Let's hope that Dorfsen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Kennedy working a defensive guard here.
Dorfsen postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Dorfsen controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Kennedy looking to control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dorfsen is in close to Kennedy 's body, working some short punches and elbows. Dorfsen showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Dorfsen has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Dorfsen gets to his feet - Kennedy follows without any prompting. Kennedy throws a head kick that half lands.
Kennedy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dorfsen pushes Kennedy up against the cage in a clinch. Dorfsen tries to pull guard but Kennedy forces him back to his feet, against the cage. Dorfsen lands a right hand. Kennedy breaks from the clinch.
Dorfsen gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Dorfsen jumps guard and drags Kennedy to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Dorfsen is looking for a triangle but Kennedy pushes his legs off easily.
Dorfsen is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Dorfsen looking for a triangle here. Kennedy is fighting it but it looks tight! Dorfsen pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Kennedy is tapping out - this one is all over!
