Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 1, fighting out of New York, Jay Smith!
The judges for this bout are Dean Styles, Alyssa Summers and David Schapiro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith scores with a jab to the jaw.


It looks like Robert Stone has been cut.
Stone throws a leg kick
and Smith counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
We've been informed that Smith has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Stone moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Nice jab there from Smith.
Stone misses with the body kick
and Smith counters with a right hand to the body.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Smith is defended easily by Stone.
Smith tries for a takedown but Stone sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Stone tries to close the distance and clinch up but Smith swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Stone fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Smith checks it well.
Smith swings for the body but Stone moves out of range.
Stone misses with a body shot.
Smith throws a jab but it's blocked by Stone.
Stone throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
We've been told by Stone's head coaches at Heart Cave (8 elites, 4 double-elites, 1 triple) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
A low kick from Stone is predictable there

and Smith counters with a takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Smith working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Smith has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Stone is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Smith yanks on the arm and Stone is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Smith.
