Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Denis Prager! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Andrew Lankford! The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lankford stuffs the takedown. Prager gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Lankford counters with an outside leg kick.
Prager changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lankford looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Prager throws an elbow but Lankford slips to the side and avoids it well. Prager creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Lankford sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Prager is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Prager's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. The ground and pound from Prager seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Lankford tries to improve position but can't.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lankford wants to control but Prager postures up. Prager lands an elbow. Prager lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Prager slows the pace down. Prager tries to move to mount but Lankford blocks the move with his legs. A lull in the action here as Prager stalls from top position. Prager throwing shots but missing, from side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Prager cracks Lankford with a big right hand but Lankford just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Prager controls the position from side control. Lankford is working to avoid the ground and pound but Prager connects with a decent elbow. Prager taking a breather here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Prager sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Lankford is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Prager has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. You can see the frustration on Lankford's face as Prager controls the position. Prager lands a decent elbow from side control. Prager landing strikes. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Prager lands some shots froms side control. Lankford looks winded! Prager working the ground and pound from side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Prager is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Lankford's shoulder. That is not cool. Prager is chipping away with strikes.
Lankford is rocked! Prager works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Lankford is still in real trouble! Can Prager finish him? Prager lands a strong strike to the head of Lankford. That's dazed him! Prager looking to finish here. Lankford is waving his arms around trying to block but he's hurt badly - Prager lands more strikes and the referee steps in to end the fight!
