The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Burkman is looking to clinch.

Burkman decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Burkman moves into the clinch successfully.

West trying to control the position from guard on top but Burkman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
West really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Burkman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Burkman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as West controls the pace.

Burkman is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! West is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! West has escaped and now he's on top!
Burkman pulls West in to control the position.

Burkman is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Burkman bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in West's guard.

Burkman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Burkman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Burkman is looking to take a break and control but West is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

West is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Burkman has just dragged him back down to the mat.

Burkman swings around for an armbar but West sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Burkman's guard.

Burkman looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
West trying to control but Burkman is working from the bottom.

West drops back looking for a leg! Burkman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Burkman manages to kick West off! West jumps back into Burkman's guard.
West wants to stand but Burkman has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

West decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
West misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Horrible takedown by West or perhaps it was just good defense by Burkman which made him look bad.

Burkman decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
West is staying active underneath Burkman, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Burkman is working for a submission of some sort.
West wants to get back to full guard.
West trying to control from the bottom.

Burkman throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
West is trying to get back to full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
West avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
West closes this distance looking for a takedown but Burkman circles away.
James Burkman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anderson West.
West shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Burkman but Burkman pushes him off and we're back to square one.
West throws a one two combo.
Burkman has his takedown stuffed
and West counters with a one-two to the body.
West thows a body kick. Burkman tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Burkman closes the distance looking to clinch
and West counters with a left and a right that stings Burkman.

Burkman closes the distance and clinches.

Burkman is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. West can't fight it off and eventually Burkman manages to take the fight to the floor. West looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Burkman wants to control from the top but West keeps moving.

Burkman drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but West manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Burkman has West in his guard.
Burkman throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Burkman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Burkman wants to free his trapped foot but West is holding on for dear life with his legs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Burkman in particular looking to stall.

Burkman decides to stand and escape the position.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Burkman.

Burkman is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but West is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
West tries to improve position but can't.
West is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Burkman wants to lay and pray for a moment but West keeps working.
West is looking to regain half guard here but Burkman keeps moving and retains side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

James Burkman dominated that second round.
That's time! Burkman's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Burkman tries to clinch up but West circles away and keeps his distance.
Burkman closes this distance looking for a takedown but West circles away.
Burkman shoots in but West avoids the takedown attempt easily.
West is looking to clinch but Burkman is avoiding it.
West fails to land with a series of punches.
A slapping leg kick lands for West.
West circles away from the clinch attempt
and West makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

West closes the distance and clinches.
Burkman lands a shoulder strike.

Burkman has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed West clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
West staying busy and making it hard for Burkman to control.

Burkman is looking for the choke from the back position but West is controlling his hands well.
West covers up after that shot from Burkman.

West won't enjoy being in this position. Burkman looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - West is tapping - it's over boys! Burkman picks up the submission victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:04 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). James Burkman!
