Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Altare (ranked 722 p4p, 111 weight class) and Jack Shaw (ranked 611 p4p, 89 weight class). Shaw comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Family Force 5 - Chainsaw kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Altare darts in and clinches Shaw up against the cage.
Shaw fails to pull guard.
Altare lands a nice shot to the body.
Shaw can't break the clinch.
Shaw is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Altare to keep the fight standing.
Shaw misses with a body punch.

Shaw chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Altare can pounce on him.

John Altare has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack Shaw.
Shaw throws out a loose jab but Altare uses good head movement to avoid it.

Altare is looking for a counter combo.
We've been informed that Shaw has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Shaw misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Altare.

Shaw scores with the left hand. Altare knows he should have avoided that one.

Shaw connects with a solid leg kick.
Altare lands a really nice looking cross but Shaw seems unphased.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

John Altare seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A decent looking cross lands there for Altare.
Altare fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Altare tries to clinch but Shaw is having none of it.
Altare shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Shaw eats them both and turns towards Altare to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Altare throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Shaw stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

No joy there for Altare, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Shaw shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Shaw throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Altare doesn't manage to clinch there - Shaw circles away.

and Altare counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shaw tries to pull guard but Altare forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Altare fails to land with a short punch on the inside.

Altare tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Shaw's elbow.
Shaw is trying to break the clinch but Altare has him pressed against the cage.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.

Altare swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Shaw misses with a punch on the inside.
Altare lands a big right hand that drops Shaw! The killer instinct kicks in and Altare finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Altare!
