PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between AC Slater (ranked 896 p4p, 138 weight class) and Tung Fo (ranked 1506 p4p, 224 weight class). Slater comes to the cage accompanied by Stop What Ya Doin. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, AC Slater!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tung Fo!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and Trevor Gratis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fo with a poor takedown
and Slater connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Slater throws a body punch but Fo moves out of range.
Fo looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Slater is fending him off so far but Fo persists. Nope, Slater circles away and we're back to standing.
Tung Fo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Slater lands with a hook. Fo tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Slater throws a body shot but no joy.
Slater misses with a body shot.
Slater stuffs the takedown.
AC Slater has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tung Fo.
A looping hook to the body misses from Slater. Fo does a little dance to reset his feet.
Fo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Slater sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Fo somewhat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Slater lands a really nice looking cross but Fo seems unphased.


It looks like Tung Fo has been cut.

and Slater makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Fo misses with a takedown
and Slater cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Sloppy strikes from Slater. Those never looked like landing.
Slater misses with a two punch combination.
Fo will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Fo tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Slater manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Fo showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Slater.
Fo takes a jab right on the kisser.
Fo tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Slater paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Fo tries to clinch up but Slater circles away and keeps his distance.
Slater appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Fo.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Slater struggling a bit here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Slater is trying to buck Fo off.

Fo is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Slater has escaped the position, nice work there.

Fo is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Slater knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Fo tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Fo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Slater, who protects the arm well.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Fo is trying to get an arm triangle but Slater is defending well.
Slater is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Fo has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Slater is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Fo goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Slater has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Fo but great work by Slater.
Fo tries to buck Slater off but Slater is having none of it.

Slater stands up and beckons Fo to his feet.
Slater swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Slater ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Slater is looking to wear down Fo with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Slater scores with a nice strike.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Slater sizes up Fo with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Slater scores with a jab.
Danga de danga de dang - Slater scores with a four punch combination!
This has been an exciting period of action!
Fo darts in looking for a takedown but Slater gets double underhooks and turns Fo into the cage.
Slater is looking for a counter combo.
Slater lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.


Fo is rocked!
Slater throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Fo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Slater tries to avoid it but Fo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Slater to the ground. Slater escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Slater misses with a two punch combination.
Slater changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
AC Slater is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Fo slips a jab and a cross from Slater.
BAM! Slater delivers a spinning backfist that drops Fo like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Spinning Backfist). AC Slater!
AC Slater decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
