PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mario Huber (ranked 4175 p4p, 455 weight class) and Federico Mancuello (ranked 4721 p4p, 511 weight class). Huber comes to the cage accompanied by Enter Sandman. Federico Mancuello will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 23 - 36 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Mario Huber!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Federico Mancuello!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Steve Smith and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Huber misses with a takedown
and Mancuello counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Huber fails to land the takedown.
Mancuello throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Huber.
Huber changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.

Huber throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mancuello was covering up waiting for the punch and Huber finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Mancuello has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Huber off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Huber shoots in but no luck this time.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mario Huber. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Huber drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Both fighters take a look at the clock.
Mancuello managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Huber.

I wouldn't like to be where Mancuello is right now.
Huber works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Mancuello manages to work his way to half guard, despite Huber's best efforts.
Huber takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
We've been hearing that Huber has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.
Huber thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Mancuello's head.
Huber has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Mancuello tries to get to full guard but Huber has control of the leg.

Huber slips a nice elbow through Mancuello's hands, connecting with Mancuello's forehead.
Huber looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mancuello with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Mancuello is defending against the submission attempts here by Huber.

Mancuello wants to improve his position but Huber is controlling well.
Huber winds up and cracks Mancuello with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Huber working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Huber is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Mancuello manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Huber goes for a takedown in the clinch but Mancuello prevents it.

Huber is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Mancuello can't fight it off and eventually Huber manages to take the fight to the floor. Mancuello looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Huber might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Huber makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Mancuello told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Mancuello has momentary wrist control but Huber slips an elbow through the middle.

Huber thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Huber is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Mancuello is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Mancuello has escaped and now he's on top!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Huber shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mancuello but Mancuello pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Mancuello pushes Huber against the cage. Mancuello is working some dirty boxing. Mancuello pushes off with a quick right hook! Huber goes down! Huber tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Mancuello moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Federico Mancuello!
