Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Brendan Duff (ranked 1704 p4p, 181 weight class) and Herschel Pettaway (ranked 2051 p4p, 221 weight class). Duff comes to the cage accompanied by Determined by Mudvayne. The crowd seem to be enjoying Pettaway's choice of entrance music: Empire State of Mind - Jay Z. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Brendan Duff! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Herschel Pettaway! The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Trevor Gratis and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pettaway rushes Duff and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Duff turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Pettaway is looking to reverse the position. Duff lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Pettaway is looking for a sweep. Duff will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Pettaway takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Pettaway prevents Duff from moving into mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pettaway wants to control but Duff postures up. Pettaway takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. Pettaway takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Duff working the ground and pound. Duff tries to move into full mount but can't pass Pettaway's legs. Duff is looking to take a break and control but Pettaway is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Duff landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Duff creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Pettaway avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Duff. Duff advances nicely into full mount. Pettaway tries to get back to half guard but can't. Duff landing shots from mount. Pettaway manages to regain half guard. Good work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pettaway has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Duff is working away from the top position though. Duff drops an elbow to the side of Pettaway's head. Duff is looking for a kimura but Pettaway is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Duff to get the leverage. Duff looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Pettaway taking some punishment here, with Duff in his half guard. Pettaway manages to get to full guard.
Pettaway is trying to hold Duff in close to prevent damage but Duff has managed to pass into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pettaway is in trouble now - Duff has advanced to mount! Pettaway avoids a series of strikes thrown by Duff.
Pettaway sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Pettaway has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it. Duff works his way into side control. Duff wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pettaway keeps working. Pettaway trying his best to control but Duff has mounted him. Pettaway's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Duff prevents Pettaway from getting the reversal. Duff with good strikes from the mount here! Duff scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Pettaway tries to reverse the position but Duff maintains control. Duff wants to control the pace but Pettaway is squirming around nicely. Duff lands with some strikes. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Duff lands a couple of good shots and Pettaway has given up his back, trying to escape the position! Duff working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet. Duff is looking to finish with some ground and pound! Pettaway is trying to break free.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brendan Duff dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Pettaway has taken the fight to the clinch.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Duff creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Pettaway misses with a hook from the clinch. Duff wants a takedown.
A right hand to the body from Pettaway.
A short right from Pettaway on the inside. Pettaway breaks the clinch.
Pettaway misses with an uppercut. Pettaway lands a right hook to the body.
Pettaway misses with a series of wild punches.
Duff drops down looking for a counter takedown but Pettaway sprawls and moves away. Pettaway punishes Duff's body with a nice straight punch. A shot to the liver by Duff. Beautiful body shot. Duff moves into the clinch. This has been an exciting period of action! Pettaway tries for a takedown. No joy.
Duff lands an elbow inside. Duff has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Pettaway after a bit of a struggle.
That's one minute gone in the round. Knees in the clinch landing for Duff.
Duff pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Herschel Pettaway is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Duff fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brendan Duff. That's going to take a lot out of him. Pettaway clinches. Pettaway creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Pettaway holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Pettaway stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

Duff throws a head punch that misses. Pettaway will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Duff up against the cage. Duff keeps control of Pettaway as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pettaway blocking some punches.
Pettaway is looking to break free of the clinch but Duff has double underhooks. Duff is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pettaway can do to turn this around? Duff drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Pettaway gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Pettaway breaks the clinch.
Duff looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Pettaway! Duff is looking to take a break and control but Pettaway is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pettaway tries to improve position but can't.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pettaway keeps trying to improve his position. Pettaway is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Duff has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Pettaway! Pettaway is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Duff cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Pettaway tries to reverse the position but Duff maintains control. Brendan Duff overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Duff with the ground and pound from mount. Duff putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Pettaway somehow manages to escape the mount and get back to his feet! Duff closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Pettaway did well to prevent Duff getting side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. This has been an exciting period of action! Duff working Pettaway over with strikes. Duff is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. The fighters are battling for position here. Pettaway manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Duff looking to sit in guard and control but Pettaway gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Duff is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Pettaway wants to control from the top but Duff keeps moving. Pettaway might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Duff haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Brendan Duff will probably get the nod. Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!
Pettaway scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. A nice inside leg kick there by Duff. That's going to slow Pettaway down. Pettaway just misses with a punch to the body.
Duff shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Pettaway as he jumps to the side. And Pettaway tries to counter it with a takedown but Duff pushes his down on his head and steps out. Duff's jab looks to have found its range, popping Pettaway under the eye. Pettaway swats away the attempt to clinch by Duff. Duff jabbing away but nothing is landing. Pettaway takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. A looping hook to the body misses from Pettaway. Duff does a little dance to reset his feet. Duff does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. The fighters circling - Duff throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Pettaway takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Pettaway misses with a wild combination.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pettaway throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Duff stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Pettaway throws the kick towards the body but Duff avoids it. Pettaway throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Pettaway throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Duff changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Duff looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Pettaway throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Duff misses with a double jab.
Pettaway throws a wild body kick that Duff sees coming a mile off. Pettaway is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Duff rather than just go for the knockout. Pettaway lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Pettaway throws a body kick that misses. Herschel Pettaway seems to be getting the better of the standup. Nice defenses there by Pettaway. Pettaway scores with a nice body kick.
Duff checks a low kick from Pettaway. Duff looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pettaway fails to land with a series of punches.
A slow jab from Duff misses its intended target. Pettaway takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Pettaway misses with a low kick as Duff jumps back. Duff feinted with a counter takedown. Herschel Pettaway has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Duff is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Duff paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Duff checks a leg kick. Pettaway lands a jab to Duff's midsection. Pettaway scores with a punch to the head. Brendan Duff seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pettaway takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Pettaway cracks Duff with an open hand slap. Pettaway fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Duff manages to avoid it. Duff shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Pettaway is trying to defend but Duff finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Pettaway is in trouble now - Duff has advanced to mount!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Duff unloading with bombs! Pettaway gets back to half guard. Duff passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Pettaway! Duff connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Duff breaks from Pettaway's wrist control and lands an elbow. Pettaway is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Duff is in the full mount, landing strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Duff is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Pettaway can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Duff is landing with some decent strikes but Pettaway is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Pettaway is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Duff lands a heavy shot. That's hurt Pettaway! Duff sees the opportunity and turns up the heat - strike after strike land to the defenseless Pettaway and the ref dives in to save him! This one is all over!
