The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sullivan fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Sullivan gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Marsden pulls guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sullivan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Marsden has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sullivan has managed to get both his arms back between Marsden's legs - danger averted.
Sullivan connects with a couple of short punches.
Sullivan stays in close to Marsden's body and controls the position.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sullivan makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Marsden wants to sweep but no luck.

Marsden can't keep his opponent in guard - Sullivan advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

My spies in The Performance Center inform me that Sullivan has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

We've been hearing good reports from Marsden's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Sullivan is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Marsden can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Marsden sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Marsden is rocked!
Sullivan lands a big elbow - Marsden is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Sullivan!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jeremy Sullivan!
Jeremy Sullivan took to the mic after the fight and begged the organizational hierarchy for a shot at the title.
The defeated Brandon Marsden had this to say: 'I didn't lose that fight in my mind. True victory is to give all of yourself, without regret. '.
