PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adan Mcknight (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Simon Waters (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Adan Mcknight!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Simon Waters!
The judges for this bout are Albert Achterberg, Saam Ante and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Waters changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mcknight looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Waters thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Sloppy strikes there by Waters.

Waters is trying to get an arm triangle but Mcknight is defending well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mcknight can't do much from the bottom here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Waters scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Mcknight to see if he's OK.

Waters tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Waters has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Waters remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Waters is trying to get an arm triangle but Mcknight is defending well.
Waters looking to control but instead Mcknight has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.
Mcknight is looking to control Waters's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mcknight avoid being mounted?
Waters thows a huge punch but Mcknight dodges it nicely.
Mcknight gets full guard.
Mcknight not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Waters is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Waters trying to control but Mcknight is working from the bottom.

Waters is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Mcknight is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Mcknight has escaped and now he's on top!

Waters is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Mcknight is aware though and is defending well.
Waters has a closed guard, preventing Mcknight from standing up.
Mcknight knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Waters on the ground.
Waters is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Waters looking to control.
Mcknight has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Waters is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Waters prevents Mcknight from improving his position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Waters is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Mcknight closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Waters's guard.

Waters manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.
A frustrated look appears on Mcknight's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Waters gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Waters tries to free his leg and advance position but Mcknight is retaining full guard.
Mcknight might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Mcknight trying to keep a closed guard but Waters is proving a slippery customer.

Mcknight working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Waters.
Waters wants to control from the top but Mcknight keeps moving.
Waters slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Waters throws a big right hand that misses.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Waters trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Waters slips nicely into half guard.
Mcknight is trying to maintain the position but Waters is very close to passing his half guard.

Waters is working for a submission of some sort.

Waters looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Waters works his way into side control.

Simon Waters has got the better of the ground game so far.

It looks like Adan Mcknight has been cut.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Waters wants to control but Mcknight is keeping him busy.

Waters is working to tighten his grip on Mcknight's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Mcknight has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Waters is really squeezing tight and eventually Mcknight passes out! Waters breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:28 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Simon Waters!
